Opinions on Mama Melrose

We went last summer. There was a significant wait to sit and then our dinner took two hours. Time in between courses was ridiculous and the food was mediocre. We'll never go back there, if we want Italian we'll try the place in Epcot next time.

We went once last year for dinner and will never go back.

1.) Charge $ for bread at an Italian restaurant?? Whatever!
2.) Our waiter was HORRIBLE and I consider myself pretty easy going when it comes to dining.
3.) The food was really quite boring (there were 3 of us and we all had different things) and NONE of us liked our meal...we left wishing we had skipped it.

The variety of opinions is interesting. We were there for dinner in April and liked it very much. We were on the DDP and Fantasmic Dinner Package so we also got an appetizer even though it isn't included in the DDP anymore. Apparently it comes with the Fantasmic Package. We also received bread with our meal. DBF had the salmon which was excellent and I had the Spaghetti Fra Diablo which I really enjoyed (the sauce that I had was not brown and funky like a previous poster experienced). I'm Italian and I order and make this dish fairly frequently and I wasn't disappointed. Our server, Emily, was a delight, one of the best on our vacation which included a Disney CRuise. We would definitely go back again and would hope to get Emily!

The wood grilled shrimp or chicken with pipette pasta is great. The Artesian breads and spreads are great too. I believe bread comes with the meal if you do not order the breads and spreads appetizer.

We went last month (May) and my DH thought it was the best meal of the trip! I thought it was pretty good too. Just be prepared to be there for quite some time. The service is VERY slow. We were there for 2 hours. Too much wasted park time to me, but it was a very nice meal and the restaurant is nicely decorated and makes you feel like you are eating outside under the stars!

We went several years ago, and NEVER AGAIN! It was by far the worst dining experience of any disney restaurant that we have had (with the exception of the old ice cream social at garden grill). The service was horrible. The food was cold and just bland tasting.

Our server actually spilled a drink on DH and didn't offer to help clean it! We had to use our own napkins!!!

We ate there in January and enjoyed it. We made a last-minute ADR for a late lunch after the LMA Stunt Show and waited maybe 15 minutes for our table. Our waiter was good, and we thought the food was pretty good. I had a flat-bread and my husband had the chicken parmesan. We did order the bread appetizer with the variety of dips and spreads and thought it was good.

We've booked the Fantasmic package there when we are there with our sons in Sept.

We have been to Mama Melrose's each trip for the past 8 years. We like the laid back atmosphere and Italian food. We have had great and not-so-great service. Our DD is an Italian food fiend and she insists that we go each trip. We have tried 50's, Sci-Fi and Hollywood and Vine (never had a desire to go to the Brown Derby because of the menu). We always come back to Mama Melrose's. It is a wonderful, relaxing break from the MGM (oops, DHS) chaos with decent Italian food.

MAMA MELROSE Is good. Have eaten there about 5 x's. We liked it. It's good Italian food for Disney.

We didn't enjoy it very much when we went in 2006.
- We had to wait an hour past our ADR time (plus the 20 minutes beforehand that we were told to checkin by) before we were seated
- The food I chose turned out to be a very small portion with limited protein (vegetarian offering)
Etc.

However, I have read many good reviews before (hence why we went) and since. So, I suspect that it can be variable. We'll probably try it again someday.

It was just o.k. when we went. I was surprised that the restaurant didn't serve break with the meals... I got the Chicken Parmasian and it was just mediocre. The atmosphere was just O.K. as well...We weren't wowed but I am sure that if the only way we could get ADR's would be for this restaurant we would go again.
