Now that Jetblue will be servicing my local airport (BDL) :cool1:...I'm curious about ppl's opinions on flying SW v. Jetblue? price, comfort, service, etc.

I'm so excited to have another reasonably-priced option for my next trip!!!:woohoo:

We live 15 mins from MHT in NH that has SW. We live 45-60 mins on a good day to Logan that has JetBlue. We choose to fly JB over SW. It is worth it to us to take a car service to Logan and fly out of there. We love the tvs, the seats, the legroom, the service. They offer competitive fares (and lately much better fares than SW), non-stop flights to all the places we have wanted to go so far. TrueBlue is a pretty good program to accumulate points for free flights, in combination with American Express. They have recently changed it, so haven't really evaluated the pros and cons vs. the old program, but overall seems to be pretty good.

Jet Blue--assigned seats. In flight entertainment

SW--Open seating. Bring your own entertainment (DVD Player, Ipod, computer etc.) No change fees. Good if your plans change.

Most people will base their decision on flight times and fare.

Jetblue is my favorite. Comfy assigned seats, TV and it doesn't seem so loud. SW has the open seating and for some reason it seems so incredibly loud to me. That said I do have flights on SW for our July trip, the price just couldn't be beat. I have to go were the best deal is.

I prefer to fly JB, but will happily fly SW. I do like to choose my seat at booking and I love the inflight entertainment offerings with JB.
But...I like the change policies with SW a lot. And I like that we get 2 bags checked free.
Comfort wise I find them to be pretty similar, although JB does offer the for a fee extra leg room seats.

It all depends on which one has the flights at the times I want to travel at. Then comes the price.

I've flown both and prefer Jet Blue. I never have more than 1 checked bag and don't want to have to deal with checking in at a particular time or paying EBCI with SW. And the free TV is nice to have.

We have found jb has been cheaper than sw and I much prefer a seat assignment over free 2nd bag. Normally I fly Boston, but just saved $50 by booking Hartford, only 10 more miles away for me and parking about half the price!

I'll be interested in hearing more people about this. I'm making my "maiden voyage" on JB come 11/27/10 out of BDL and I've always sworn by Southwest. I just didn't want risk missing out on the great flight times/okay fares on JB to find out that SW has cut back even more on their flights to MCO and kept their prices higher than I've ever paid.

I've been a Southwest loyalist for the last 7-8 yrs, mostly because of their booking policies and prices. I'm glad to see Jet Blue flying out of BDL (my home airport) --- competition for fares = good prices!

I wish Jet Blue would be flying out of BDL this summer -- SW prices are crazy right now!

I fly JB regularly out of HPN, and am happy to see them coming to BDL.
IMHO it's JB hands down, the open seating on SW is the dumbest system in the industry,if not why don't other airlines use it.
TV's at every seat or XM radio is another big plus.
