Just wondering how the food and character interaction is at Hollywood and Vine? Is it a good character dinner or are there better places to try to eat at HS?

Thanks!

H&V is just OK - Brown Derby is much better...... Having said that, I'm not really fond of any of the restauants at MGM.

I'm with you on this!! Don't care for any of them at DHS, except SCI-FI. BD was such a disappointment, never again, H&V is not as good as it used to be. The character meal is way too noisy!! Fantasmic pkg is a joke, the better seats are in the regular seating areas.

THanks for your honest input! The only reason I booked it was because it was a Character dining but my DD3 doesn't really even watch JoJo or the Little Einstein's so now I'm rethinking my whole decision. Those are the only characters that are there, right?

Me and the wife thought H&V had the worst service and food. I wouldnt go back there again.

I went for lunch last summer and I would do it again because my daughter really likes Little Einsteins. I also rented some JoJo dvd's before we went so she knew who Goliath and JoJo were. The food was OK and the service was fine. It is extremely loud. They sing alot of songs and get up and dance alot so little kids love it. Adults, not so much. I'm glad I did it because my daughter loved it. :goodvibes

Right... Little Einsteins only... and watch out for June... (see tag over my Avatar)

Ok, so i try to not put down a Disney Restaurant...but EW!!!! I am sorry, horrible food...horrible service, the food has been cold the past 3 times we have been. We are like ok it has been a bit lets try again...nope no good. Also the service has consistently been poor. I am a server so I know how it gets hectic...but i dunno it just has always just been bad!

In May we went to the character breakfast and it was very good.....we had the two grandkids with their parents with us and we all enjoyed the assortment of foods.
We went last week and had The dinner there........Now I was not going to go but we needed another place to eat at......The food and service was not bad at all...we liked what we chose and the food that was hot was hot and the food that was supposed to be cold was cold......we enjoyed it.....Service was good too.....we had a great waiter and he made sure our drinks were filled when they were supposed to and then offered us coffee with our desserts.....
so a very nice surprise there

We're going on December 20th (Fantasmic! pkg) and now I'm a nervous wreck! These are some terrible reviews. I didn't want to put out 2 TS for BD, and Mama Melrose's was booked. :scared1:

My brother's family that is going with us really want to see Fantasmic!, as they've never seen it before. But he is such a food critic.

Now I'm rethinking.

For us Hollywood and Vine was only OK. The worst part was it was very loud. Every sound in the place was amplified. We only went as part of Fantasmic package and probably wouldn't hurry back.

I agree, I hate H&V - terrible food and full of screaming children. Last time I was there, two young girls were physically fighting at the table next to use. They literally fell onto our table! It was so loud the restaurant went silent and look our way. At no time did a server come over to check if everyone was ok. At least their father was apologetic.

We honestly don't like the dinning at HS - we usually just eat CS that day or take the short boat ride over to the Boardwalk.

If I had to choose, I would eat at 50's Prime Time - at least the atmosphere is entertaining - and it is reasonably priced.

We thought the food was just about average in taste and lukewarm in temperature, Crystal Palace in MK has a much better buffet. But the part that we liked the least was the noise level, the music was blaring, so loud you could barely hear each other and the characters come in to sing and dance A LOT! :eek:The table area was quite crowded too. Our table was up against a partition and squeezed so tightly in that everytime someone wanted to go back to the buffet half of us had to get up and let them out. :guilty:

Ate there last year Labor Day Week.
Read alot of bad reviews, but really wanted the Fantasmic Package & it was the only one available our whole trip.
So we had low expectations going in.
I thought the food was fine.
There was a variety. Kinda adult, NOT comfort foods. Lots of seafood & pasta & sauted veggies. Not my usual pick.
I feel we got our money's worth & that the meal was way better than Beirgarten's. The food reminded me a little of 1900 Park Fare when we ate there in Dec.'07.

we eat there before it was a charcter i did not care fore where they sat us and the fantasmic thing is a one-timer i presonally think walking in u get a better view the lines a lil crazy now but thats okay its disneypirate: the food at H&V was not the best but i dont really wanna go there again but if DD made reservations then i ll live:confused3 but eatting at HS is werid cuz of lack of food surving unlike MK and EPCOT

I had to reply to this. I agree that there are many more options at Epcot then DHS, but not at MK. Each park has five TS restaurants, and a smiliar number of CS restaurants. The difference IMO, is the quality is much better at MK, especially the CS. Though I do love Brown Derby.
