We're at the point now with the kids that we don't want to take them out of school and have them miss school. I know its super hot in June but I was wondering from those who have been that time of year how is it?

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

We went in June and had no problems at all. We rode everything we wanted and then some, the major headliners multiple times. Of course who knows how the busy season will be with the new FP+, we were pulling way more than what the new system allows and then jumping into short SB lines waiting for our FP time. I think the longest we waited was 30 minutes for a ride and that was because it broke down. We had reservations at all of our must haves, I was even able to snag two at BOG. If you plan you can have just as much fun and do a lot(again maybe that won't be the case with FP+). It is very, very hot.

Last 3 years we've gone in the 1st 2 weeks of June. No problem heat wise, lines are another story. :faint:

We went the first week in June this year, and it wasn't that bad. It was rainy and overcast most of our stay, but that actually helped make things bearable -- if the sun had been out, it would have been miserably hot. We went to the parks early then came back to the resort by mid-day. We'd venture back out again in the evenings. That helped us avoid both the worst heat and crowds.

Like any other time at Disney, I think as long as you're prepared, have a plan, and your expectations are reasonable, you'll be fine.

We've been in early June and mid-June and the trip was fine.

The heat didn't bother us much because we are from Georgia. Going in mid-June gave us time to adapt to the heat and humidity while we were at home so it worked well for us.

Just plan for the afternoon thunderstorms and you'll be fine. Have fun!

Sorry to be a downer, but we will never go again in June, July or August. We got there June 16th last summer and were there for a week. Super hot, super crazy rain (and I'm From oregon so rain doesn't bother me) and the lines were super long. We all decided never again! We will stick to February or October for us. Again, sorry to be a downer but that was our experience.

We have been in March, April, May, June, July and December. I preferred June as everything was open (no refurbs) and I only had to pack one set of clothes. It was hot and it was busy, but we were at rope drop, used fast passes and took daily breaks during the afternoon and then hit the parks again after dinner. I would do it again tomorrow.

We went at the end of June last time and our trip this time overlaps end of May first week in June. It was hot, had a small Tropical storm etc last time but the crowds weren't too bad at all.

However, I remember standing in lines pre FP, at Disneyland as a child where 2 hours + was pretty normal and the place was packed like sardines so nothing I've seen at Disneyworld has ever compared to those nightmarish days in the 80's and early 90s line/crowd wise.

Going at a busier time just requires you to slow down, have patience and enjoy your vacation.

When I saw your thread title I figured I might want to advise about the heat, heat, heat. Everyone incuding the OP got that covered already!

Other than that, crowds are a little high in June, but, not unlike yourself we don't want to take the older kids out of school for a significant number of days and that means crowds regardless of when we go.

I would probably not pick June again. But, with the right expectations and plenty of water to drink and a couple of those spray bottles with fans attached to them (fill them with ice water), it can be a great time too!

June at WDW is better than June at home!

We went the first 2 weeks in June this past summer (6/2013) and we didn't find the heat bad at all.

And the lines and wait times were really hit and miss. Overall I would say they weren't bad.

The important thing is we had an insanely good time on our trip and there was nothing pertaining to the June time frame that was a hinderance to our trip at all.

We went June 11th, 2012 for five nights. It was fine, and I don't like heat and humidity. We went to parks in the morning and evening, and had pool time in the afternoon. There was a thunderstorm every day in the afternoon that lasted an hour or so. It was crowded, but it's always crowded when we go. Early June is not as hot and crowded as late June if that's possible for you.

We did one mid June trip. It was OK, but much hotter and more humid than I like and crowds were about the same as spring break. We dropped some theme park days and did more water park days due to the weather. Spring break as an out of school time wins for me due to the less humid weather.

Yes it is often hot and a little stormy. I would never go in the summer if I was not staying on site.

We go early, and then take a break and go back to the resort though the middle of the day, we swim, eat nap and just relax (DVC villa) before heading back in the late afternoon.

If you are on site the new FP+ system will make this better since you can reserve afternoon times which did not work most of the times under the old system.

If we did not have school age family we would go other times, but it is manageable in the summer.

We went last year in June. It was hot but like others said it was still a lot of fun! We had 8 of us ranging from 7 months to adult. We stayed on site at a value and took breaks. It was easy just to hop on the bus and go back to the room for a while. The older ones would swim while the little ones took naps. The rain was kind of annoying at times. We always had ponchos with us and most of the storms were short. It is definitely worth going. We went the last week in June. It was crowded but we were able to get fast passes and see most of the things we wanted.

This past summer we went the last 2 weeks of August. The year before we went the 2nd/3rd week of June. We knew to expect the weather and planned accordingly. We had AWESOME times both trips. We used to pull the kids out of school every year. Since my oldest started Middle School I just can't bring myself to do that freely any more, lol. Now I don't know how touring plans will work with the new Magic Bands and what not. There will be a learning curve for that in the future but we will for sure be doing these trips again. I will mention that I think it's around the last week of June that the Brazilian touring groups start and I believe the lines do greatly increase from then through mid August.

Helpful things we found. Disney has plenty of drinking fountains to refill a water bottle and they are more than happy to give you an extra cup of ice water at any of the counter service places. This past August trip I discovered how wonderful running shorts are with the built in underwear :lmao: They are so light weight and cool. Not to mention they dry out so fast so weather your sweating or just got caught in rain you remain comfortable. :thumbsup2
Get there before the park opens, tour your hot little butt off until lunch then go float in a pool for the afternoon. Go back to the park in the evening :thumbsup2:

I wish this site had a "like" button to click to each of your replies...I really appreciate the advice.

We have gone in mid May and remember it being very hot....some days hitting the low 90's & we did pretty well. When the weather and temps got high but we knew that was break time...so I guess we are somewhat prepared for June. DS14 doesn't want to go due to the heat so I'm not sure what we'll do. School really limits our choices...ha! Priorities I guess...

We could go over part of April vacation and extend into the next week with the kids missing only 3 days. My boss has the the first couple days of April vacation off so I could go Wednesday to Wednesday. With DS14 in high school now I don't like taking him out. Plus hes been absent already for 8 days total due to stomach virus.

I've been to Florida many time in the summer as a child ( a long long time ago hahaha) and I did just fine.

Thanks again...I guess we'll figure something out.

We are also considering going in June for our next Disney trip. Our two oldest kids will be in middle school so we are on the fence about pulling them out of school for even just a few days which is what we did on our recent Disney trip this past May (the week before Memorial Day). Our last day of school will be May 28th (or May 29th if there is a snow make up day), so we are looking into going during the very first week of June because DD6 & DD11 always have their rehearsals and recitals for dance the second week of June, and I'm not sure if we're up to facing the increasingly higher crowd levels of late June. I've read that the crowds are manageable the very first week of June; but what may be an issue for us (if we stay onsite at a Disney resort) is the higher "summer season" resort prices and smaller general public discount promotions during that timeframe. We went to Disney during the third week of August a couple years ago which was really nice because our kids were still on summer break at that time, crowd levels were moderate, it was value season prices, and we had our pick of either free dining or the kids stay and play free discount promotions. But going back to Disney during that same week in August won't be an option for us anymore because our school district is now having the kids return back to school a week earlier than usual in August. In terms of the weather, I agree with the tips of staying hydrated, taking advantage of the indoor/air conditioned attractions, getting to the parks first thing in the morning, and taking an afternoon break out of the heat and returning to the parks in the evening. If the crowd levels are manageable, dealing with the heat is a lot easier IMO  The only thing we didn't really like about going in August was the heavy humidity and daily afternoon downpours, but we got used to it after a couple days and learned that these things make it even more important to have a good plan when doing a summer Disney trip. Going to Disney in the summer is nice though in that you can have that longer family summer vacation without the thoughts of missed school and the make up work looming over you while on vacation :)

We went this past June, the first week. Some days were miserably hot, but we had misting fans and Frogg Toggs. Go to the parks early, return to your room or hotel pool when it gets super hot, and then come back to the parks after it cools some. We did have a tropical storm when we were there, so it did rain quite a bit, but we were prepared with ponchos. All of the parks seemed really busy every day with most rides having at least an hour wait.

I'd rather not go in the summer, but I'm a teacher and don't have much choice.

We went in June last year for the first time. My husband and I are both teachers, and we agreed that we'd rather go during our March spring break than in June again. The crowds are comparable, but the weather is SO much better in March. It wasn't so much the heat and humidity, but the rain and thunderstorms that drove us nuts. The only way we'd pick June over March again is if our March spring break overlapped with Easter.
