Opinions on Epcot with younger child?

We will be spending 2 days at Disney with our 7yr old grandson before heading over to Universal. We definitely will be doing Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. My question is it worth adding a park hopper on to our tickets to get a half day in at Epcot or should we just concentrate on the other 2 parks? Wasn’t sure how much there is to do at Epcot for a child that age. Should we just skip it entirely? Any opinions greatly appreciated.

My vote is to just spend the two days at the parks you have selected. There is so much to do at those two parks and he will have a blast. EPCOT is an awesome park (and our favorite one), but not necessarily a top priority for a seven year old that only has two days in the parks.

I would get hopper and take the half day at Animal Kingdom, you can do Ak at morning and spend the afternoon at DHS. Epcot have not many appealing for 7 years old

We love Epcot, so this is no reflection on that park, but with only 2 days I would just focus on 1 park per day.

I find park hopping too exhausting with a kid.

I would do 1 day magic kingdom and 1 day Epcot.

We can’t fill a day in DHS. And AK we only do on long trips.

Epcot is great for kids. Figment, Living the land, Mexico ride, spaceship earth, soarin, Nemo. And playing agent p in the countries. Was my sons second favorite park.

My daughter was 8 when we took her to Epcot for the first time, and she loved it! Epcot became one of her favorite parks, if not her favorite park.

A lot of times what we think will bore our young children actually fascinates them.

We usually spend two days in Epcot and the kids love it!

It really depends on what you think he will be interested in. Our last trip with a 7 yo girl and a 2 yo boy, we spent more time in Epcot than any other park. The 7 yo loved Soarin and Test Track and had a blast exploring the World Showcase. On the other hand, we spent a full day at HS and still didn't see everything we wanted to. The 7 yo loved it there as well, and that was before Toy Story Land opened and she's also not a Star Wars fan at all, but TOT was a close second for her favorite ride at any park (FOP in AK was #1).

The one day that we park hopped seemed to eat up a lot of time in transportation though, and it was just too much for us. Lots of people really enjoy park hopping though. Personally, I'd stick with the two parks.

We spent about 2 hours in DHS with our young kids. There is nothing for them to do, especially as they could give 2 hoots about Toy Story. Epcot though they love. They just want to be pushed around the world, so for 2 trips now that's what they get every night Epcot is their jam! They love Illuminations as much as DH and I do Take them to Epcot, have a great time.

Unless they have a specific interest in something in FW or WS, I'd say stick to the 2 days. It's a lot of walking for big feet, much less little ones.

1) It's never really worth it to get a park hopper for a 2-day trip.
2) While I think 5-7 years old is a good starting pointing for Epcot (anything younger, there really isn't much to do), the park still has so few attractions and a lot of walking in between them, it just isn't worth it to hop over there as it just the walking alone can consume a lot of time.
3) I think you'll have plenty to do at DHS in one day -- just Toy Story Land alone has three great attractions for a 7yo. Add in Star Tours, Launch Bay and some of the shows and you'll be pressed to get it all in.

I went on several short trips with my younger kids and Epcot was always the park skipped. We've hit it now that my son is older and it's fun, but still not like the other three.

I would not park hop. We rarely buy park hoppers because it is too time consuming. Pick 2 parks and stick to them. Personally, I would pick DHS or AK either have plenty to do. My kids have never liked Epcot. There just has never been enough to do there that they enjoy. It’s a 1/2 day park for us but everyone is different.

Remember if you park hop you are going to lose between 60 and 90 minutes just in hopping. We do 3 days in Magic Kingdom just to get it done right so with 1 full day you can at least hit the highlights. Hollywood Studios is my favorite park and you can easily spend an entire day there. My daughter loves Epcot but she is a shopping queen who shops from land to land.

For a two day trip @ Disney I'd "gird my loins" and just stay with your 2 chosen parks. There is much to do for his age group at the other parks IMO but trying to cram too much into a short time frame can be disorienting.

My daughter's ( age 6) favorite park is Epcot!! She loves Soarin and the aquarium, and is eager to go on test track this year. We had planned on just MK this year but she asked to go to "apricot" as she calls it however I would give Epcot a full day.

With only 2 days I would not hop. As far as which park for the second day, it really depends on the kid and his interests. DHS if he's into Star Wars and/or Toy Story. AK if he's into animals and if he's tall enough/willing to ride FOP and EE. Epcot if he's not into thrill rides and would enjoy exploring World Showcase (at 7 my kids loved getting passports stamped in each country).

When we went two years ago with our kids ages 6 and 3 we absolutely had the best experiences at MK and HS. If given two days I would absolutely focus on those two and skip the others this trip.

We went to WDW with some friends that have a 6yo boy. EP ended up being their longest park day because he enjoyed it so much. None of us thought he would like it, but to our surprise he did!

I would say that Epcot IS worth it but not if you only have 2 days. You will have plenty to do in the other parks each day and hopping can be time consuming and tiring.
