I take Bonine each day on a Cruise because of Motion issues so here is my dilemma. Opinions please.

Sailing on Fantasy in October. I currently have a Family Verandah AFT (front of AFT section) cabin on 7 on Port side of the ship. There is now available a Family Verandah MID on 9 on Starboard side of the ship. It would cost about 300.00 to move cabins. I hear Mid, lower is better for movement, always been mid on 7 with no issues. So which do you think is better for motion - 7 Aft or 9 Mid?

Well, technically, midship is "better" than aft. And lower is "better" than higher. So it's kind of a wash.

That being said, most cruise ships are fairly stable top to bottom.

I'd probably go with the midship room, myself.

Lower is worst,

Sciences show the closer to something the more impact there is.

Lower decks,
Closer to the sea,
Closer to the engines.
Closer to the port moorings.

Lower decks have shirt random movements thry make you sick.
Higher decks these iron out.

Main cause of seasickness is ears detect movement eyes tell the brain walls do not move.

What you need to do is get fresh air, you higher up view the horizon, and you will feel better.

The people who say lower decks are sending you to the place that will make you sick.

Decks are all joined together like a child's seesaw, the ends forward and aft move a lot, the middle less. Now one deck can't move more than another.

Where does everyone spend sea days, well high up on the pool deck, now unless it's s hurricane you do not see all the water leave the pools.

Midship mid deck is best.

Lower decks can be claustrophobic making seasickness a lot worse and no fresh air.

There are reasons why the higher decks are more expensive, it's not tradition, it's the rooms are better for seasickness the same as why DCL has say Cat 4 A B C , with A the most expensive as seasoned cruisers know the location is the best so thry charge more.

How can lower decks bring close to waves and the vibration of the sea be better than something further away? It defies science.

Think, if you are in a car driving, do you get sick? If you are not driving but read a newspaper do you get sick, one is concentration on the view and horizon, the same with a shop, if you have a verandah and look out you feel better, if you are in a lower deck room, and view a wall you feel sick.
