Would love to hear opinions on Boatwrights food and service, thanks!

This is old... but I ate there twice in August 2006 - once for breakfast and once for dinner and I enjoyed the food - servings were big and they had the best cornbread I've ever had at dinner. In fact my really picky father who has been a cook his whole life even enjoyed our dinner (and he always complains about something). Service then was really good also. As for now in 2009 - sorry, but I can't help you there. My philosophy about Disney Dining is to give every place a chance and only take other people's opinions with a grain of salt anyways. Good luck in deciding and have fun when you get to WDW.

We stayed at the POR last year for thanksgiving. We ate there almost every day, and we ate our Thanksgiving dinner there. The food was fabulous. We're actually doing TG dinner there again this year and we're staying way over at BLT.

We had dinner there in June and the food was horrific. The service was wonderful but I should point out the restaurant was almost empty. We had some sort of watery chowder and a shrimp dish.

Edited to add: we loved the shrimp dish served at the food court. I ordered pasta with shrimp, artichokes, and pesto sauce. It was freshly prepared and fantastic

Unfortunately we have never eaten here for dinner (plan to do so next time we are staying at one of the PO Resorts), but we have eaten breakfast there a few times. Sadly they don't serve breakfast anymore. They had the best stuffed french toast....it was like Kona's Tonga Toast but a bit smaller. So good :cloud9:

Tried it back in 2008. Food was acceptable, but not wonderful. Service was fine. I will go back at some point in the future, but am in no rush to do so.

Don't go out of your way to do so.

Their breakfasts were wonderful, but they have since stopped serving breakfast as of February.

There are few choices on the menu and there is no salad or veggies that come with your entree. It is quite pricey for being a moderate resort.

Hop on the water taxi and go over to DTD and eat there - there are much more interesting places to eat over there, like Rainforest Cafe, T-Rex, and Wolfgang Puck that have much better food.

When they served breakfast (now discontinued), we enjoyed their Sweet Potato Pancakes and Stuffed French Toast. The times we ate there, the service was good, the food and coffee hot. The food at dinner is just so-so. If you're there already, it's great but I wouldn't go out of my way to get there just to have dinner.

We had an adr for boatwrights towards the end of our trip last year. During the first day we walked past the restaurant and decided it wasn't for us and canceled the adr.

The main walkway from the lobby to the food court runs right in front of the restaurant. The walkway was very loud and opened directly into the eating area. I can't imagine how loud it is at a table.

The best comparison I can give would be eating at Liberty Tree Tavern with the exterior windows removed. You'll have a great view of everyone walking past outside and get to hear everything they say. ;)

this speculation is wrong. i never noticed any noise intrusion when eating there. how can someone make a comparison if they never experienced it? the food is OK but not spectacular. we have eaten there many times and never felt cheated.

lol. My opinion is my opinion. Take it for what it's worth. Even if we didn't eat there, my first impression is still valid.

Glad to hear you like it, though. :)

I've eaten here twice, once for breakfast earlier this year which was good and the service was very good. We also ate dinner which was very tasty but not everything was warm enough. My father-in-law was going to pay for the meal on his card and we were paying the tip(18%) in cash. I explained how we were paying and tipping to our server and handed her the money and she just said "Yes I know" and walked off, not a word of thanks! I was very close to asking for the tip back as her service was very inattentive but I did not want to spoil a meal that somone else had bought for me. As you can tell, I'm still cross about it! But the walkthrough to the food court does not really detract.

If you want loud, try eating there when the piano guy is in the lounge (right next door). I ended up getting most of my meal in a box and going back to POFQ food court to eat in a bit of peace and quiet.:confused3

We had dinner there in 2008 and liked it very much. We both had the filet mignon with crawfish hollandaise which came with cheesy potatoes, the pecan pie that I had for dessert was pretty good too. Service and atmosphere were both pleasant.

Had dinner there with my mom last Jan. Our server was awesome and we asked for his recommendations and he was spot-on (for me - my stubborn mother ordered what she wanted and ignored him). However, what he advised is no longer available... But I'd eaten there before (both dinner and breakfast) and have always liked their food. Bummed about the breakfast.

We went two years ago for our last meal of the trip -- we won't be going back. The service was horrible -- from the rude host, to the waitress who barely said five words the entire evening, the service was slow and the food was awful (I sent my steak back twice). It was so loud in there from being right by the food court on one side and by the bar with the Piano guy on the other that DH and I couldn't even talk for the 1-1/2 hours+ that we were there.

I am a hard core foodie and I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the meal. Our server was Jenny and she was great. Noise did not bother us. The desserts were pretty good, but not on par with the rest of the meal. Our server was honest that they were not made in house, or even on property. I would not go out of my way to eat there, but I certainly would not avoid it either.
