Hi! We have the option of staying 4 nights at the Hilon Garden Inn Seaworld for $99/night, OR spending 2 night there, and 2 nights at the Royal Pacific Resort (at $239/night). It's our honeymoon, so we obviously plan to spend an average amount of time in the hotel...we also like the idea of hopping in front of all the lines at Universal if we stay at the Royal Pacific, but is it worth spending $300 more to stay 2 nights at the Royal pacific? Please help us decide based on your experiences and opinions.
Thanks :)
(please note that the other half of our honeymoon will be spent relaxing at a 4 1/2 star resort in Cancun.)

Hi Jamiejeremy. We spent our honeymoon at RPR 2 years ago, and just went back this past summer for a 3 night stay. It was great! I'd recomend staying there for all 4nights, but if you can only do 2, you can only do 2 and it is worth it. Not only for FOTL, but the convience of being right at the park and it is an incredible looking hotel.

But before you decide to book, when are you going? And have you looked for discounted rates yet? Unless you are going very soon (like Oct or Dec.) I imagine you can find a better rate.

Check out LoewsHotels.com go to Orlando and check out different rate codes. Try ENT (entertainment), FAN (Fan club card, which somebody on this board would be willing to give you), or APH (Annual Pass Holder rate, may be worth the extra $$$ to purchase one Annual Pass for what you can save on hotel and food discounts).

Right now for HHN, seems like all the good rates have been pretty snatched up. But you may also try EXPEDIA, I found decent rates there, and other travel web sites. If you look you may be able to find a rate for 4 days that would be about the same price of staying at both RPR and the Hilton for the 4 days.

Anyways it's a lot of leg work, but it is much easier to stay in one hotel, than pack up and move for just 2 days.

Good luck

I see on a different post that you are looking for July, 2005. Discounts for those dates are not posted yet on the website so please don't think that that is the rate you will be paying.

Keep watching for discounts as time gets closer. By the end of this year and beginning of next year, you should be able to get discounted rates.

Yes, we will be traveling July 2005. I am not sure where everyone gets all these hugely discounted prices. A fellow disboards user was kind enough to send me a fanclub card. I called the telephone number, and although too soon to get a discount, they said I will only get 10% with the fanclub card... Therefore, the rooms at the Royal Pacific will still be $215/night PLUS tax.

People find the discounted rates by continuing to "search" for them. As for your trip.......... as I stated in another of your post, you will need to be careful if using the fan club. AS of the end of this year, the cards..... will NO LONGER be accepted, and PERHAPS proof of membership will be required!!!! As other people have also told you, discounts for the time of your trip are NOT yet posted. You can however as Damo stated in her post, try checking for discounts around the end of this year to the beginning of next year.......... you should then be able to find discounts that DO apply to you.

Have you checked with your or your fiance's employer to see if they are fan club members?

I would start searching again during the time frame mentioned, again, I would call the resort you are interested in, find out which discounts are avail. during the time of your stay, THEN, try to get those discounts. Usually, the ent. rate is the best, but that varies, there are tons of disounts avail. from an AP/Ent/aaa/fanclub/and many many others.......... I'd suggest that you just keep checking here periodically, closer to the end of this year, beginning of next to see what discounts are posted here, for the most part once one is listed it is posted here almost immediately.

Good Luck planning your trip, I know it's exciting!!! Just know that the info we are giving you is to help, not hinder!!! :)

Again, I would also read the many post here on avail. discounts to find out what they are, and how they would apply to you.

Jamie,

here is an idea... if your family ( grandparents, parents.. ) ask you what you want for your wedding gift tell them you would would like some help with your hotel! ;) they will either pitch in or just pay for the whole thing, depending on what they can afford. people wont think you are being rude if you are honest with them! i know if i ask what someone wants or needs and they give me the standard reply " i dont know, or nothing " it drives me up the wall!

you should do something really nice for you honeymoon. it really is a special time that you will never forget!
