Opinions needed please

Choose AKL if you're planning on spending a lot of time at DAK. If not, I think POFQ is a better choice--and I love both resorts--but FQ is closer to Epcot, DHS, and DS, and there's something more sort of socially friendly about it, I think, which I personally would prefer on a solo trip.

The money would also be a huge factor for me, so that might have something to do with my advice. Also, I had a bad large-insect experience at AKL a couple of years ago (in the bathroom) and have been wary about staying there ever since.

AKL/Jambo is my hands-down favorite resort at WDW, and if I could afford it I'd stay there every trip! If you pick AKL, ask for a partial-savanna view room.

Thanks for all the opinions. I have opted to stay at POFQ and use some of my savings on Magic Kingdom after hours event
I can understand that decision. I knew that I couldn't justify staying at AKL for my entire trip, so I split my stay (which I normally wouldn't do for 5 total days) and spent the first 3 days at a Value resort and the last 2 at AKL. So money often factors into decisions.

Assuming you have a resort day or plan on doing some half days in the parks, I think it's definitely worth it. AKL has great pools and restaurants in addition to the savanna.

If you're doing a park every day, probably not.

I personally don't care for AKL because I like to walk around the resort and AKL gives the animals the space, not so much the people. When I'm thinking about checking out a new resort I look at as many videos as possible and make my own decision. What one person loves, you may not care for at all, but since you are interested in AKL then give it a try. A few days in each resort is a good idea, it gives you the new and the familiarity of the old.

I know you've made your decision but we stayed at AKV Jambo in May by renting points. We booked standard but I requested Kudu Trail and got a great view of the savannah.

I was apprehensive about staying here because of all the usual complaints. It's far from everything, there's only bus transportation, the buses take a while to get to the parks, etc. But I'm the type of person that likes to learn for herself and we took the leap and we absolutely LOVED it. We are actually going to Jiko next trip just to spend some time at AKL.

I'm a city girl so buses don't bother me. A 20 minute bus ride also doesn't bother me. We had an 8 night trip so plenty of room and resort time so we took advantage of the amenities. I loved walking into that lobby each day after the parks. The smell is amazing too.
