Opinions needed: Late Ohana dinner or Les Chefs?

Greetings,
We have just recently decided to book a 1st anniversary trip to WDW in Sept.

Of course, this is presenting a problem trying to get in our ADR's this late. On our MK day, we really want to try Ohana for dinner and ride the monorail for the 1st time, but the only time available is 9:40 p.m. We don't have kids, but that's still a little late for us! Tried looking at other days, but they're all this late.

Would there be another monorail-accessible restaurant that's just as good? Kona, perhaps?

Another option would be hopping a bus over to Epcot to try Les Chefs de France at a more reasonable hour . Just don't know if it would be worth it to trek through the park just to eat there. We haven't been to either restaurant so I can't decide which option would work better.

Any thoughts would be appreciated! TIA

Ohana used to be one of our favorite restaurants, but the quality and menu are not what they used to be. I can't imagine eating that food at 9:40 at night. I would either eat at Chefs de France, or, if you want to eat in the Polynesian, try Kona. Kona's ratings are equal to that of Ohana and your meal will be a lot more peaceful without the annoying singing. I really like Chef de France, so if the menu looks appealing, go there.

These two dining experiences are complete opposites.

Ohana can be "iffy". Service spotty/non-exsistant/lousing pacing of food delivery are frequently heard criticisms. OTOH, it is fun for families and the kids have a good time participating in the activities. I think the "entertainer" is gawd awful.

Chefs is a favorite of mine, so I'm biased. The service is good--though it's not an "eat and run" sort of place. The atmosphere is nicer for a relaxed meal at Chefs.

It really just depends on what your preferences are

At a 9:40 reservation there won't be any annoying singing at 'Ohana - they stop the entertainment at 9:30.

'Ohana's gotten pretty hit or miss, especially with service. They serve so much food that there's plenty to eat even if one item is "off"

Kona Cafe is great, as is Chefs de France. Both are favorites of ours. For more of an "anniversary" atmosphere however, head to France!

I love 'Ohana but would never want to go that late in the evening, even without kids! Chefs de France is absoultely wonderful though, one of WDW's best. I would highly recommend it over any of the monorail restaurants. Good luck deciding!

If it were me and I'd spent all day at MK, the last thing I'd want to do is trek all the way to Epcot. Kona Cafe is delicious, I'd eat there. I can't imagine eating an Ohana dinner at 9"40pm! Ugh, the indigestion!! I've also read that you can order the Ohana bread pudding for dessert there. And the Polynesian is such a lovely themed resort that we always make it a point to eat there every trip! Good luck with you decision.

I would go to Kona instead. After eating for the third time a few weeks back the service at Ohana was terrible and the beef was all dried out.

While some people might find the singing annoying, it is a personal opinion. I enjoy the activities and love the singing at Ohana I loved the food when I was there and my service was ok but if I needed something, I made sure to ask. I will definitely be going back there on my next trip! I would not be able to eat at 9:40 at night though so you need to decide whether that time is alright for you. If not, try another restaurant for a more reasonable time. Also, it is your anniversary so you may prefer a less chaotic restaurant and more intimate. Have you looked at California Grill at the Contemporary? Good food, great view, and on a monorail resort.

Don't really mind the singing but I did go to 'Ohana after 9 once and had to sit through one freaking loud maraca parade and was glad there were no more after that one. I'd be hard pressed to go to 'Ohana earlier than 9 anymore. That dinner would have been really good (despite the fact that the beef was too tough to eat but I didn't care, just didn't eat the beef) except for the service issues.

Thanks for the tips everyone! Sounds like Les Chefs de France will be the best bet for us. More reasonable hour and more romantic . It wouldn't hurt to be at Epcot that evening for an extra ride or two. Plus we've never really tried French food, so it will be a good experience. We are eating at California Grill on arrival night, so if it works out we might try to get on the monorail just for the heck of it. I might try to work in Kona one day also, since it gets generally good reviews and I'd like to check out the Poly.

We love Ohana but no matter how passionate I am about it, I couldn't eat that late at night. The only time I could get a reservation for our upcoming trip in August was at 8:15pm and had to turn it down because it was too late.

Annoying singing? I can guess which is your favourite of the Seven Dwarfs.

We love both Kona and Chefs de France but for a Magic Kingdom day I would definitely say Kona. Be warned though, it is a fairly open restaurant almost part of the Polynesian lobby and they often have an entertainer in the lobby as well so you may not be able to escape "annoying singing".
