Hi

My husband and I are taking our DD to WDW for the first time at the end of January.
I just checked Southwest (for the 10 millionth time) and rates are $159.00 to fly out on Friday, Jan. 26th. And $89.00 to fly back on Tuesday the 30th.
The website also says that those prices are only available through tomorrow.

My question is... Should I jump on it and buy tickets tomorrow before those rates expire? Or should I wait and see if the price of that Friday flight drops?

I haven't flown to Florida in years so I don't know what rates usually are or if there's any hope of getting a better deal then that.

What do you all think?

Thanks!

Southwest is great in that if you see the price drop, they will give you credit for the difference. Then you can ask for the credit to be put back on your credit card. My advice is take it and look for DINGs to drop the price.

I think you can get the same flights (with one stop) on Frontier for $222 all totalled. That's $26/seat cheaper.

Thanks guys!
I check Southwest again today and it turns out that if we push our trip back by one day and leave on Saturday instead of Friday then we've got $89.00 fares both ways. Saved us over $200.00!!!!!
So... we have officially achieved airline tickets!!! I booked them this morning!
:cheer2:

Good for you!!! :thumbsup2

I looked for MONTHS for airfare without much luck (I am a bargain-aholic!). I decided one day to check Allegiant Airlines again. I had checked them several times, and they were just too high. Well it was 2 months before our trip and I checked them again. The fares had dropped to $59 each way!!! This saved us sooo much money! I booked immediately. It meant leaving a day sooner, and coming back a day later, but with what we saved, it was STILL cheaper even WITH getting a place to stay for 2 extra nights! And oh how awful to have to spend 2 extra days in warm, sunny Florida!!! :woohoo: BTW...I looked again at the fares recently and they have gone back up on the outbound flight to almost double what I paid! :cool1:

Our entire upcoming Feb trip to WDW resulted from just a casual glance at local flights to FL to see if there were any deals to be had around the time the kids are off for Presidents Day. Found $79 fares on Allegiant, as long as we went on Wed which means the kids have to miss 2 days of school (I'm sure they won't mind!). I checked a few days after booking, and the prices had dropped to $65! Unfortunately, Allegiant doesn't refund the difference when the prices drop :sad1:

I had the same thing happen to me. I had been watching for months when $ would refuse to drop below $228. I jumped on a booking out of Newark for $158. The next day I was a little sad to see it drop further to $138. It would have been nive to save the extra $80 but I didn't want to risk the price shooting back up. Overall I'm still VERY happy I saved $280 on a direct flight so I'll focus on that. There have been years when waiting to see it drop a little has bit me in the butt so now I just go with whatever 'feels' reasonable.
