Hi, we are looking to book one of these for an evening meal but I can't decide which one to go for! Does anyone have any opinions on either, what characters are at Lucky Nugget? The menu looks quite good at CM and there seems to be a good range of characters so leaning more that way, the only thing that puts me off is how busy everyone says it is? Any thoughts much appreciated :cool1:

Lucky Nugget is in the park so will probably not be open for an evening meal

I think the business adds to the atmosphere in Cafe Mickey and often in the evening the characters get up and do a little dance... well they have when I've been in there. We've also been to Cafe Mickey at 12.30 for lunch and it was just as busy then, but they didn't do a performance.

 I didn't rate Lucky Nugget I'm not a fan of buffet places full stop following my experiences there. Now I like my food freshly prepared in an environment where other people can not touch my food unless their hands have been washed, especially childrens hands, where people can't poke their fingers in the food on the side to test the temperature or taste of food, and not sat on the side under lamps.

Sorry rant over... go to Cafe Mickey lol, it's a much better all around hygenic experience.

cafe mickey is fab
when we ate there we were only ones upstairs at first so had the characters to ourselves for a bit!

Lol, thats always my fear with buffets! Having a nose around there doesn't seem to be many great characters at Lucky Nugget either, so perhaps Cafe Mickeys would be the best!

Cafe Mickey all the way for me!

I have done breakfast at Cafè Mickey last year and Lunch at the Lucky Nugget last week and they have been two different experiences.

We are a party of 4 adults and we all felt we were rushed at Cafè Mickey even if all the characters stopped at our table the CMs kept asking if we had finished.
We saw Chef Mickey, Goofy, Geppetto and the Cat from Pinocchio.
Food for breakfats was ok-ish but nothing to compare with the characters breakfast we had had in 1996 at the Manhattan Restaurant in Hotel New York (more food, better prepared and more characters too)

At Lucky Nugget we were no rushed at all and we saw Hook, Rafiki, Goofy and Cat from Pinocchio.

We all liked the food in Lucky Nugget (we dont mind buffets lol) and the Tex Mex choices made it a bit different.
The only *down* (little down) in Lucky Nugget was that we were not sat on a proper table but at the first balcony and it was a bit *narrow*.

In the end i can't really compare the two things as they were different but i can'ts say *i love this one* either.

i havent done the lucky nugget but i ate in cm in october and we all loved it. i had a screaming toddler who wouldnt eat anything and didnt want to sit in her high chair and the cm and characters couldnt have been nicer. we had already ordered so couldnt leave but they just acted like this happened all the time. and i have to say that friar tuck made our day he was so funny.

Never been to LN but we always have lunch in CM on our last day! It's wonderful, great atmosphere. Gets my vote!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks guys! Have gone with the majority and booked for Cafe Mickeys :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Booked for 6.30pm so hopefully won't be too busy! Any further opinions / thoughts welcome though - still trying to decide where to eat on the day we are in the park!

How about Lucky Nugget? ;)

Seriously, I love both Cafe Mickey and Lucky Nugget. :goodvibes

Would you fancy a character meal again or would you prefer a meal in for example Walt's or Blue Lagoon?

Prob too late but we prefered Lucky Nugget to Cafe Mickey. We found we could drag out the meal for a long time by going up to the buffet when we wanted, Cafe Mickey was a faster service.

Hygiene doesn't come into it for me, I've worked in some kitchen environments before and believe me, the food isn't necessarily worse at a buffet!

I must add though that we booked LN for lunch at noon and got there a few minutes earlier so we could be settled with starters and drinks before the characters came out. It also meant we were the first few in and got good tables on the main floor.
