My daughter's phone has died (enV3). I also have the same phone. Need opinions/help/suggestions for a new phone. Is the IPhone4 worth the price $200 for 16GB)? I understanding the next version won't be out until July or so, and we just can't wait that long. What about the Droid?

Any information would be very much appreciated.

Droid all the way. It is the same thing as an IPhone and MUCH less expensive, now. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Droid. DS18 has one too and loves his (he has the original and I have the Droid X). Keep in mind that if you move to a smartphone you have to move to the $30/month data plan. Honeslty, I don't think the $200 is worth it for the Iphone when you have a free or cheep Droid option.

Thanks Sookie. I was just on the Verizon website comparing the X and the Incredible. Near as I can see the only difference is memory and standby/usage time. Can either of you comment on the battery life, please.

If I don't use my phone at all it will hold a charge for several days :lmao::lmao:. With my normal use, which is checking emails as they come in, texting throughout the day, looking up a few websites, reading for a while before bed on my Nook app I need to charge my phone every 3 days. If I have a long phone conversation with someone, more often then that. I have a wall charger, a USB on my computer and a car charger so I don't worry about my phone going dead ever. The 2.2 upgrade they had has an app shutdown something or other that stops stuff running in the background that has significantly improved the battery life.

Smartphones just use up more battery and you just get used to it.

Thanks. I guess your usage would be along the lines of my 15 year old. ;) I could go weeks without charging my battery.

The battery on the Droid X is not too impressive... If you are going to spend a lot of time on it, plan on charging it every day.

My kids get what ever is free.

We have the Incredible. Actually my DH, my brother, my father, my SIL and myself all have it.

We love it. I honestly do not have ONE complaint at all. The battery life can be short if you use a lot of internet, facebook etc. Otherwise it's not too bad. I just keep it plugged in at home or in the car and never have an issue.

I have not heard one bad thing about the Incredible at all, everyone I know that has one loves it.

TVGuy, my DD started out with a Migo and earned her way to a better phone. She knows it's a privilege that comes from keeping good grades and doing her chores around the house. I have to admit, I'm having a hard time swallowing an extra $30 per month, per person in my house for the smartphones, but I'd rather that than get a huge, unexpected phone bill. Right now none of us have internet capability. I had it all turned off, so she's only had texting. I think it's time I move along into the technological future that I've been fighting for so long. Again, it's hard to swallow my phone bill going from $110 for 3 people to $200 for 3 people, but I guess, for us, it's time. Maybe I'll get rid of the house phone to make up the difference in cost.

The main real difference between the Incredible and the X, for non-tech savvy users like me-is the screen size and the keyboard. After the Verizon guy showed me part of the Avatar movie on his Droid X I was sold. I wasn't sure I would like the virtual keyboard but after an hour of use it was sold and LOVE it.

You can add another line with just a basic cell phone, no smart phone or Data package with your current home phone line for $10/month. Use that as your "home" phone. There are actually land line phone that can use the bluetooth on your cell phone to answer calls so you just have to have the cell phone near the base of that landline phone. We have some that are Vtech phones. It's pretty cool. We have the max number of cell phones on our plan already so we can't add the "home" phone but once DS18 is off our plan, we will drop our landline and go this route.
