Opinions for a Foodie?

After doing lots of online research I am NOT all that excited about any of the quick serve restaurants. I have therefore planned a ton of ADRs (every dinner, one lunch and breakfast (character dining); 9 in total.

I don't know what to do about lunches. I would MUCH rather go to Epcot to do F&W every day for lunch, but looking at travel time between parks, I'm assuming this is not the brightest decision.

SO...

Can I get opinions on your favourite Quick Serve restaurants in each park and why? (and don't worry, I'll just do a whole afternoon of the F&W, wouldn't miss it for the world!)

Thanks for all your help guys!

Sunshine Seasons at Epcot has a nice selection, as does Flame Tree BBQ at AK and Pepper market at Coronado Springs resort.

Also Columbia Harbour house looks to have some nice sandwich selections as well.

WE're not fans of the usual burger/fried fish/chicken combos that appear everywhere so I too have looked into more healthier alternatives.

I'm not a burger/chicken finger kind of guy either. Here are my favorite pics for counter service, avoiding said foods:

1. Magic Kingdom: Columbia Harbour House (good vegetarian sandwich & chili, pretty good tuna sandwich)

2. Animal Kingdom: Tusker House used to be my favorite, but it's now closed. Yak and Yeti will probably have some good stuff, but Flame Tree BBQ actually has some very tasty BBQ rotisserie chicken.

3. MGM: ABC Commissary is unduly maligned, IMO. I love the chicken curry at this place; nice and spicy and definitely a change of pace for a counter service spot. They also have a pretty decent cuban sandwich and a nice tabbouleh wrap.

4. Epcot: Tangierine Cafe in WS and Sunshine Seasons in FW. Both have nice, non-greasy, selections.

We are not big fans of the CS choices either. However, we always enjoy The Tangierine Cafe in Morroco! The lamb & chicken shawarma platter is delish! Not sure where you are staying yet the Pepper Market at CSR was a nice surprise! The prime rib with a horseradish drizzle-served for lunch and dinner-was very good! Cooked perfectly and served with the sweetest grilled veggies-all for a CS credit to boot! :upsidedow

Darn...Tusker House Closed? Pooh! (bear that is ;))

Anywho...thank's for the opinions...

Is there still the Terrace Noodle Station in MK. I love Noodle Soups (Vietnamese style)...is this what they serve there? Is it any good?

I LOVE DISBOARDS!!! :)

We tend to do a big breakfast and just graze for lunch or share an item from a CS place. A few favorites for us are:

DTD - WPE, they have big menu, large portions at a great price and the food is awesome

MK - Cosmic Rays has chicken, ribs, soups, salads and sandwiches and the stand by...burgers. We also like Peco Bills, they have a great chilled chicken wrap and I hear they are now serving taco salads which is great because the Pirate and the Parrot next door is always closed. Hot dogs at Caseys are good to but the last time I was there I spied a killer looking mozzarella, basil and tomato sandwich on Main Street, I plan on trying it when we are there in 2 weeks.

MGM - we do not like anything at this place, maybe a hot dog but that is it.

AK - we have eaten at Flame Tree twice and it is pretty good. Do not care for the pizza place at all.

EPCOT - This is the place to go for CS! Sunshine Seasons has sandwiches, salads, soups, chinese food and many other items. Not to mention all the yummy foods the countries have to offer, and as a bonus the F&W but that could get very costly for you because each item is about 3 to 4 bucks and each items is about 2 bites.

DTD: WPE, "resteraunt" style food at a CS place. I like the fact that the waitress brings the food to you.

MK: CHH, I usually get the tuna sandwich. It is anice change from the standerD fast food.

MGM: I had some good rotisserie chicken at the Flat Bread Grill last summer. It was not a relazing atmosphere.

AK: I don't have a favorite. I don't care for Flame Tree, and Tuster House is closed. There is a fruit stand by the safari that I usually get fruit from. There is also a good frozen drink stand (there may be more than one).

EPCOT: Tangerine Cafe!! The entrees here are amazing (as compared to other CS)!! You can't go wrong with your selection. I also had a good chicken meal at Yakitori House.

My DH and I would also consider ourselves to be foodies and we absolutely love Sunshine Seasons Food Fair in the Land in Epcot! I know others have recommended it too but I can't say enough good about it. We ate there twice on our most recent trip and probably would have planned to eat there more if we had known about it ahead of time. It was nicer than some of the TS we ate at, and it's basically a food court.

We weren't all that thrilled with the CS offerings either:

In MK, we ate at Pecos Bill's and Cosmic Ray's and thought that they were ok but nothing special.

The Flame Tree BBQ at AK was a step above most CSs but again, not fantastic.

We didn't even bother to try to eat at MGM.

Epcot was filled with good little spots (but avoid the CS in Mexico at all costs).

One of the big winners for us was Earl of Sandwich in DTD. Fantastic from entree to dessert!

Now that I've heard some good reviews on the CHH in MK, we'll have to give it a shot.

Tusker House is just under refurb from what I understand.

I've heard really bad things about the Noodle Station. Apparently, all the sauces come from bottles and are nothing like authentic Pho or other noodle soups.

Thank you so much :) I am so excited to be going during the F&W, so the only thing I'll be eating in Epcot, other than my dinners, is different tastes from everywhere.

If it wasn't such a hassle getting around, I'd just hop over to Epcot every single day for F&W lunch. :)

Hi Princessdoubt, It's me, memomuffin and I just wanted to say hello again b/c the title of the this thread basically sums me up pretty well. "Foodie" - I've been on a low carb diet for about 3 weeks now, only because I know I'm going to stuff myself with tons of food in just a few days (as you pointed out, only 5!!!) People have been making so much fun of me with all of the reservations I've made (they unfortunately don't understand that it's fun and necessary!). The latest was one of my good friend's was aghast when I told her I knew almost every desert I was going to have at every dinner. :rotfl:
WE have a few of the same ADR's: Boma, Coral Reef, San Angel Inn. IT was so hard for me to narrow it down. You know how many times I changed them??! The only one we couldn't get that we REALLY wanted was....can you guess: Le Cellier!)
Take care, have fun AND enjoy all that food!

Seems like you have some good choices. I want to try Fulton's, the Aloha Dinner Show, and San Angel Inn sometime. (Although we weren't thrilled with the CS in Mexico.) DH and I loved Boma, Marrakesh, and Biergarten! Hope that you do too. The only one that I'd be hesitant on is Coral Reef. I've heard a lot of negative comments about the food but it's probably worth it to try just for the atmosphere. How cool is that! Have fun and bon appetite.

we are foodies also and until the DDP had rarely eaten any CS. Our newfound favs ( some mentioned by others) are

EP-Sunshine Seasons, Cantina Angel, Tangerine

AK-Flame Tree (now that Tusker is Buffet), Pizzafari (mainly because this restaurant is so beautiful)

MGM-Starring Rolls

WL- Roaring Forks

DTD-Wolfgang Puck Cafe

Don't have a fave at MK, Pirat is often closed ,and Pinnochio was ok.

Lol...Memomuffing...for me being Canadian, Le Cellier is the ONLY restaurant I didn't consider. I can get great Canadian steak and wine any day. :)

I'm very much looking forward to all my reservations!

As for Coral Reef and San Angel Inn.

Both of these were not my choice. My DBF has been to WDW a couple times as a kid & teen. When I started booking restaurants...he insisted that I try and get these two reservations...they were his FAVOURITES!!! ;) Since I'm choosing EVERYTHING else, I knew I could indulge him in these requests. Although neither is my first choice...I'm pretty excited about both.

As for bad reviews...I've done other travelling and have learned not to believe everything you read when it comes to reviews. Reviews are individual opinions, and unless they're just like me...I can't trust them to be what I would think. Plus...I'm a silver lining person and although I expect a lot from restaurants, I can always find something good about everything.

Needless to say, I'm looking forward to all the walking in the parks...because I'm going to need it! Plus, I've already started planning the 6 days a week trips to the gym we'll be doing upon our return ;)

Mmmmmmmm...foooood! Seriously, my best vacation (other than Disney of course!) would be to stay in Toronto, and just eat at a different and fabulous restaurant, 3 meals a day, for the whole week! Wow...now THAT actually sounds like a good idea! ;)

3 sleeps...only 3 sleeps !!! :cheer2:
