Which is better and why?

April break doesn't fall near Easter in 2004 in my area.

Which is better?

Will April break still be VERY crowded anyway? Will it be cooler than August? Will the end of August be less crowded?

Which would you choose if you could get decent airfare?

Thanks!

It will be cooler in April, but probably just as crowded.....schools in the south will be back in session at the end of August, but schools in the UK get out at the end of July, so a lot of them go on holiday to WDW in August.

If the heat and humidity are a factor for you, I would go in April.

Another factor if you're staying on property is that April is peak season, but end of August is value season.

Hope this helps. Have fun planning!

Gotta concur with Songbert. I'd pick April:D

I would do April. Great weather.

We were at Disney in Late August through Labor Day weekend and it was WAY too hot and humid.

DH wanted to do the watermouse and every time he was able to free up the time in the afternoon, the lake was closed due to strom or lightening. Plus it was just too hot to enjoy the parks. We spent tons of time at Poly where we stayed.

Thanks for the opinions!

I'm DVC and the points are only 2 points more for that time in April vs. end of August so if there is availability, I just may go in April!

Thanks again!

My family went to WDW mid-June of this year (after having always gone in October or November in previous years). It was much to Hot and Rainy for us. We still had a great time but....

Now that DD is in the 7th grade, we will be going only on school vacations.

So, next year we have decided to try April, as well. But, our school is off 4/18-25/04. This break starts the Sunday AFTER Easter. Thus, 1 full week beyond what we anticipate as the most crowded time frame.

Do you think we are correct in assuming that a lot of people will be leaving as we arrive?

We have been the third week in august and during the week before Easter. Of the two id go in August again. Mostly because the customer service outside disney was aweful. Flights were overbooked, noone cared if the pissed you off.......

The last week in August, the hours tend to be shorter because all their college CM's go back to school, and the crowds start to thin. But the part of April that is not "peak season" also has shorter hours...............I think Im going to commit to reccommending you go in August, because I am temped to avoid April like the plague, now.

Well, after all that, it has to be the last week in August for us...

BWV had no Standard view studios for my 5 nights and I did NOT want to use 17 more points and get a preferred view but still be there 5 nights when I could go in August for 6 nights for the cost of the 5 nights in a standard in April!

I guess everything happens for a reason!

Thanks, stacy6552, for the August vote! That makes me feel much better!

Having just done Spring Break with my kids this past April, I have to say that it is the time to go. Temperatures were not too hot yet. We didn't have a lot of rain the whole week we were there. The crowds were not as bad as I thought they would be. The longest we had to wait for an attraction was about 30 minutes and that was for some of the popular ones (SM, BTMR, etc) and you can get Fast Passes for those. Spring break is actually spread over a period of about two months in that area. I guess that's why the crowds weren't as bad as we thought. Having lived in Flordia for 6 years, I know that the heat, humidity and crowds can get unbearable in August. Hope this helps!

I realize your decision is made, but I just want to let you know that I would probably choose August too. The crowds are WAY down and, while it may be hot and thunderstorming, there's still plenty to do to keep cool and dry. We have done Spring and end of Aug. and, while the temps may be more comfortable, the crowd situation was horrible! The parks were to capacity most days and it was crazy. You will enjoy August! Plus, you are saving the point difference!

Thank you for making me feel better! I was really bummed this morning when they had no availability April vacation week. But I'm starting to feel better. I know it will be hot but this trip is a "between trips" trip with having DVC and APs and it will be just me and the girls cause daddy will work and take care of the dogs so it will be a different kind of vacation anyway. We will not be running around and trying to do all kinds of stuff. We will take it easy for once and enjoy the resort more too!

Thanks again! ;)

For EMAGIRL
we are going the week after Easter in 2004. It will be school vacation week in MA as well as Maine, but most all other schools will be back in session. Peak Season for the resorts ends on the 17th and Regular season begins the 18th. I am hoping that the parks will be getting less and less crowded as the week goes on. The weather that time of year is great, and I am sure that you will be just as tired as I will be of winter and will be ready for some nice warmth. I plan on having a great time.:bounce:

We are going Easter break also, In NY Easter vacation is April 3-13. We will be in Florida from the 3rd to the 10th and Easter is the 11th.

For those who have the same break as NY, and have been to WDW that week, how BAD are the crowds. I know the weather will be beautiful.

Thanks

Mjasp, we were there this year almost the same dates. 5th-9th I believe were our dates. That was our spring break here in Atlanta. Like I said previously, it was crowded, but bearable. We definately used the Fast Passes and didn't wait for an attraction more than 30 minutes. The spring break season all over the U.S. is so spread out. Over about a 2 month period. Some start as early as March and they run into late April or early May. I think that helps keep the crowds down somewhat.

Hey guys me and my fianc'e are going to be married at the beginning of April of 2004 and will be going to Disney World from April 5 -10. Anyone got any suggestions or does any one know how that week might be with crowds and anything of that nature?

end of August is a great time, the crowds will be much lower than Easter week :)

Laura :)

So are you saying that our honeymoon will be quite the disaster? I mean I understand that this is Disney World and that there will be people, but I just want to be able to ride the rides and enjoy the scene.

Well it is going to be a busy time of year there. It is spring break in NY and Ga for sure. If you are flying, better get your airfare soon if its spring break in TX also.
