Opinions About Re-doing CL Status

Heya, i dont know. I thought i would make a thread about your opinions or guesses on how they will re-do the CL thing.


Well, i think. They are going to let CL's have a Call for help button, only for THEM. That will let them imediatley get in touch with a staff.

They may get a new CL Pin?

They are going to have months of training, before becoming officially approved for becoming a CL.

Maybe they will let people that have been banned try out for CL's..

And i really have no other guesses. Just letting out my thoughts. What do you guys think?

I really have no clue... we will just have to wait. I am just glad they're re-doing the program because it's been basically pointless for a while.

yes, yes it has. I hope they do accept people who have been banned though. Although you can still help not being a CL. I would love to have that snazzy pin! and feel all. Special

This is one of the problems... it is just a status symbol for some.

I think it's a great idea to redo the CL. I think there should only be a certain amount of time to be a CL. Maybe 3 - 6 months at a time. I have met a lot of CLs. I have mixed feelings about them. I think although it's a volunteer position it's still a privlege and they should have duties to perform.

I hope not! People get banned too much anyway. I would hate to see what it would be like if more people had the power to ban!

I am glad they are re-doing the CL_ program. I hope that all the worthy CL_'s (i know more that are good than are not) get an opportunity at whatever is coming forward.

I hope they have some kind of time check, re-eval or something. I think the biggest problem with the program, is once a CL always a CL unless you were given a ban.

Personally, I would like to see CLs be temporary. Maybe a 30 day thing. They should NOT have the right to boot, nor a special help button. Some training would be nice, yes, but remember, cl's are NOT paid staff. They shouldn't have any special privileges in the game. They are only there to answer questions and try to help newbies, and I think that should remain the same.

I believe that this sort of thing should happen every year. A shift in power is usually a good thing. I have faith that VMK will elect some good CL's.

I for one am EXTREMELY excited about these new changes. Although all of the CL's I know do wondefully with their job, I'd like to see some people get a chance to become leaders as well.

I agree there's a lot of potential for abuse if CLs were given powers. And some training would be nice, although answering questions seems to be pretty much all we do anyway.

I do not think the program is totally useless. I think that a community leader really got reduced to just asking questions from any newbie or anyone that does not know something. There has not really been any monitoring to ensure the safety of vmk for kids. (how many kids are on vmk, do the adults out number the kids) I think the original intent of VMK was for children but what was kind of overlooked is us adults (throwing myself under this bus). What we think is unsafe for kids is not necessarily unsafe for the adults. There is a definite line drawn in the game between these two. Is that what makes vmk unsafe? Should there be a vmk game for kids and a vmk for adults? I do not know the answers just bringing thought to the table. There is all kinds of ppl posting how unsafe vmk is and then there are ppl like me (once again throwing myself under the bus) that think that vmk is fine. I have reported once or twice and based on its content have seen staff immediately. I am apparently missing the unsafe part. So maybe the retooling will assist in some of those concerns. I think taking the "status symbol" out of being a community leader is a great thing. Those that want to be one to assist in making vmk safe are the ones that should be entitled. If there was some undercover monitoring that would improve the safety. I think somebody mention that is what they do at club penguin. Not sure about it though.

I don't mind them re-doing the CL program (probably because I'm not one at the moment).
However I hope they have a really good system so the 'wrong' people (e.g. scammers that vmk seem to not ban and rude people) get to be CL_s if you know what I mean.
I feel sorry for people who haven't been CL_s for a long time as well, I hope CL_s can get their status back if they want to

I really have to agree with you on that. As I clicked on this thread I thought to myself about how they were re-launching it and how that was a good idea. Then I read Doc's post and think wait... so what do they do anymore? Take a trip back in time about 2 years and CL's had really some perks that have just been done away with. And if they do end up releasing the program again I also think its good they are making all CLs now regular players since the game has such grown so much since the last time apps were accepted.

Really the only thing you get as a CL you dont as a player is nagging by players 24/7 and basically the CL symbolizes that you are experienced and you could take the nagging as good or bad but really if it comes down to it, I'll stick with being a player if it means I get asked less questions..
