Trying to decide between a standard room at the WL or a standard room at POFQ? Have never stayed at either before so have no background on making this decision. Have heard pros and cons about both but lately, a number of cons about the WL, especially with their standard rooms.

Any help?

THANKS, in advance!

I've never stayed at POFQ but we did stay at WL. We weren't overly impressed with WL. The CMs were lacking in the Disney-ness, the rooms are small and dark, the pool is small, BUT the resort's exterior and lobby are breathtaking. The geyser is very cool and we liked the trail to FW. We would return to WL, but ONLY if we were having budget issues and if they had an AP rate of say $124 (which they do offer on standard rooms sometimes). If POFQ were about the same price, I guess I would pick WL because at least you would have boat transportation to MK and to the CR, where you could hop on the monorail and go to TTC to change to go to Epcot. Plus, a fabulous restaurant is at WL - Artist Point. If POFQ was offering a nice AP rate of Say $89 or $99, I might be tempted to try it. Then again, if that were the case, I'd probably pick CSR. It's our favorite moderate.

POFQ just doesn't appeal to me - mainly because of the location. What is it really convenient to? Downtown Disney I suppose. That's why we've never tried it. Who knows, we might be pleasantly surprised. It's a favorite on these boards.

We've never stayed at the WL but we just stayed at POFQ in May. We loved it. We loved that it took a few minutes to get to the pool, food court and buses. We where lucky with the buses and we never had to stand. The kids loved the pool and it was really never busy when we went. Are room was always clean. They seemed to run the sweeper everyday. (The only reason I could tell is I have a 2 year old who made it his mission to spill popcorn on the floor every night) We had no complaints with Mousekeeping the whole trip. They seemed to leave us extra towels and soaps each day. They also arranged the kids toys in neat little spots everyday. Which the kids loved. We brought a sound machine from home but ended up not using it because it was so quiet. We also enjoyed taking the boat to Downtown Disney.

We already decided that the next time we return to Disney we will be staying there again.

Excellent question. We have stayed at WL exclusively twice a yr for 6 yrs. This May we tried POFQ due to the opportunity for a grat rate. We were very impressed. While I will always love the Lodge, I must say that POFQ really gave them a run for their money. Our room was clean as a whistle. We always had plenty of towels etc. The closeness of the food court etc was a real plus. It was quiet. Folks were friendly. We will certainly go there again. We really enjoyed the boat as well and did dinner at Boatwrights in the evening. OH....the entertainment at night is superb in Scat Cat's lounge.

I would think either resort would be great. You are closer to Magic Kingdom at the Wilderness Lodge and have access to the monorail from there. There's also a boat launch that will take you to Magic Kingdom too.

I had great stay at both (but I had a woods view at WL, which was VERY nice). I think it depends on theming... and I don't think I would be happy with a standard room at WL. POFQ is very nice...just lovely... I would save the money and stay at POFQ. Do WL when you can get a nice view.

I have stayed at both. PO twice and WL last year. 2 adults and 2 small children. I personally liked the moderates. I thought that the WL themeing was nice but the room was about the same as PO. And the WL room seemed dark to me. They both have waterslide pools as well. For the money I would do a moderate, unless you were willing to pay more and do a jr suite or something like that. Otherwise I think the rooms are about the same. Save the money. PO is also very beautiful.
