Opinion on Shoes

I'm a sandal person - I hate socks, and I hate athletic shoes. However while in Disney I find wearing sandals ends up KILLING my feet.

I saw these at Payless the other day. Think they could hold up to Disney walking?

They are adorable! Try them at home before going to the parks. Although others say they wouldn't be good, only you will be able to judge by wearing them. I have a pair of Clarks Privo shoes that are very similar in style to these and I wear them almost exclusively while at the parks. They are so comfortable and have plenty of support for me.

Crocs? Eww!

Keen
My new favorite Keen sandal is the Venice H2

I also have a pair of Newport H2s as well.

I have worn the Newports 2x to Disney, and they were great for a day's worth of walking.

They are a bit spendy, but so comfortable, and they are holding up very well

How long did it take you to break them in? I have a pair I bought for our September trip and I have tried wearing them shopping and stuff where I would be walking a lot for about two weeks now since I got them, plus wearing them around the house. I tried wearing them last weekend when we helped our daughter move on Day 1 and by the middle of the afternoon my feet ached something awful. They ached all the next day even though I didn't wear the Keens, I went back to my tried-and-true Crocs...I am not sure whether to keep trying to break them in or not...did it take you a while or did they feel good right away? They feel good when I first put them on, but after a couple hours on my feet they start to hurt. Maybe my foot is too wide for them?

I don't know how ANYONE walks around in crocs!

Wait until you get to WDW! I have never seen so many people wearing Crocs as I did during our last trip. Most were Disney Crocs, but some were regular, all styles. Do you not think they're comfortable, or do you dislike the way they look? Believe me, you'll blend right in at WDW of you're wearing Crocs!

even these Crocs?

I just bought a pair of these Mary Jane Crocks (in brown) last week. I love them!! I've worn them during my morning walk everyday since, just to make sure I'll be comfortable in them. So far, so very good.:cool1:

Teva makes some pretty comfy flops. And I tried on some Margaritaville ones the other day and they were soooooo comfy. Speaking of Sketchers, they make some shoes like that too. I'd be more inclined to buy them over the payless ones, only because the payless ones are "knockoffs" and all Sketcher shoes are of reliable quality. You can always fine Sketchers on sale - go to shoebuy.com!

Here's my .02...

I gotta say go with a nice pair of Birkenstocks. They are a bit expensive, my pair cost me around $120. These are great cork based sandles. They have great arch support and they as long as you maintain them, they are water proof. The only drawback is that you need to break them in for about a week. The cork molds to your feet

I own a pair of Crocs also, but these are not as comfortable as my Birks... YMMV.:cool2:

I am a personal fan of THESE Crocs:

Sorry, I know you said you hate Crocs, but I don't see how anyone can hate these. They are called Scutes and are the most comfortable shoe ever invented, IMHO. :goodvibes

I love my scutes too! They are so comfy and definately coming on my trip with me - but so are my sketchers - love those too!

I have these Sketchers pictured below. They're so amazingly comfortable and look darling w/shorts, capri's, etc. I think they have great arch support and I can move the straps if my feet swell b/c they're velcro! They come in cute colors, too. I bought mine at Kohl's and know that they carry them at Macy's. These are the most comfortable and they're super cute!!!! I think they also have a croc-like design for summer! I'll see if I can find them!

I also have these by Sketchers and I love them. Great arch support (at least for me):

The Croc-like design I mentioned above (Calies):

Do you not think they're comfortable,

My feet must be too narrow b/c every variety I've tried on, my feet totally flop around in them and they're the most uncomfortable things in the world! Maybe that's just me!??! Anyway, DS bought a pair at MK and swears by them. He he has a wider foot and seems to fill the Croc. I can't do it - my feet would be flopping all over the place while I walked!

I could see that if you have narrow feet. They are supposed to fit loose, but if your feet are narrow then they would be too loose. I love my crocs - but they do take some getting used to.

I have those same sketchers you do (the black tennys with the strap) I never thought of taking those! (I have some slip ons for work that I love too - sketchers are my favorite tennis shoes for sure :thumbsup2 )

You know, I needed a pair of sneakers for our Jan. trip and I totally hate wearing sneakers. My feet feel trapped and the kind that I like, I couldn't find anywhere (must not make them anymore)!! Anyway, all I wear to work are high heels or sandals (in warm weather) and I needed something! So, I went out and found the darling strappy Sketcher shoes and they were so perfect for our trip! I love that they're as comfortable as sneakers but look far more "stylish" (yes, I'm a fashionista). I wore them every day and had no problems at all. They're the heavier fabric ones and I've been thinking about getting a lighter fabric pair for summer since they make them. So v. worth the money I spent!

That sounds right on...because I have a very wide foot and find Crocs to be the best invention ever. DH has a narrow foot, and while he likes Crocs okay, he did complain about a couple styles being too loose.

Okay - those mary jane crocs are kind of cute - but where can you go try them on. I don't want to order them online and then hate them.

NEVERMIND! Found a store through the crocs website. Going there before I go to payless. Might get my daughter a pair of crocs as well.

Most shoe stores that carry the crocs brand have them. I got mine from Dick's Sporting Goods - but I ordered them online - I *think they carry them in the store too. Also, we have a store in our malls around here called Coachouse gifts and they carry the maryjane style too.

Teva 's like these http://www4.shopping.com/xPO-Teva_Teva_Hurricane_II_Sandal_Womens

They are the best sandals. They are designed for hiking and all terrain usage. You can get them wet, they have microban so they don't get smelly. They have great arch support and my feet never hurt no matter how much I walk in them ( and I am a large person and my feet hurt if I don't wear good shoes. I can only wear Birks and Tevas) I always wear them to the parks, water and regular. I just bought my two little ones each a pair, and my oldest son a pair of Teva shoes. They are incredible. If you want to try on a pair, don't try on the regular flat ones in the stores, they aren't as comfy, you need to get the ones that are slightly more expensive that have the arch support.:)

*** I just bought a pair of Crocs last week for wearing around the house only instead of slippers since I work at home. They are comfy, but I could not imagine walking in them for 5-15 miles like you do at WDW parks !!!***

Glad you found a place - can't wait to hear what you think of them :)
