Opinion on Pricing

We are going in January to WDW. We would prefer to fly. However, we can drive if we want (13 hours). Our maximum airline price for 5 RT tickets is $700 We can fly out of St. Louis, Nashville or Memphis. We prefer SW, but they are the most expensive at the moment. We can go down on either the 24th of Jan (late in evening) or the 25th of January. We are coming back Saturday, Feb 2. Do you think I have any hope of not having to drive (I dread the depressing 13 hours back when the trip is over and we all have the Disney Blues)!

I really think you're going to have a tough time getting 5 r/t tickets for $700 or less, even through Southwest. Southwest will probably have some specials and/or Dings closer to your trip, but I've been hoping for one from Nashville or Louisville myself, and the fare specials and Dings haven't been the deals they've been in the past in Nashville.

I'd hold off on booking a ticket. Southwest will probably come out with a special or Ding that's cheaper than other options, but they usually require flexibility in airports and flight times. If nothing comes along that suits you, as you said, you can drive.

We've been looking and looking for inexpensive fares for our October trip. It's about an 11.5 hour drive for us, and we've resigned ourselves to driving. We simply can't justify the increased cost difference to fly this time around.

We always go in Jan. from MN. I have always got great deals the day after thanksgiving, one year it was thanksgiving evening. I usually call a random travel agent once a week starting oct. 1 and find out what the cheapest flight cost is AND HOW FULL IS THE PLANE? this is huge. By calling randomly once a week I can figure out who is lying and just how low the cost will go. In 1997 it was $99 rt last year it was $161 rt. Hope this helps a bit.
