I will be visiting DisneyinSept. 08' and am saving for a nice camera. I am not a prof. (or anywhere close), but love getting wonderful shots! I need the best all around camera I can get. One of the mainthings I need is to be able to take action shots from sides of fields or gyms(kids) andI would like to be able to get good shots in low light or night situations.
So if you had between $350-$400 to spend what camera/lenses would you get? I have tried to research but get lost in all the information. Thought you might help keep my mind from swirling! Thanks

That amount might get you a budget DSLR with a kit lens, but that certainly is not the best lens for your situations. If the action is on a field at night or in a gym, then you unfortunately need to spend at least $700 for a good low light zoom lens. There are cheaper prime(no zoom) lenses, but you would have to have a few to cover the focal length range you would likely need, so it would likely cost more in total.

It all comes down to what you consider acceptable. If you go with a p&s camera in those situations, you might get decently in focus and non-blurry shots, but they are going to be very noisy from the high ISOs needed.
