Hello!

I am a freshman at my local community college who is wanting to partcipate in the CP for Spring 2010. I did my web interview on Sunday night and I had my phone interview on Tuesday, 11/10/09 and got my thank you e-mail on Wednesday 11/11/09.

My interview went really well. My 3 areas I chose where (in random order): Merchandise, Character Attenendent and Attractions.

Here are some of the questions I got, along with my responses. Do you think they were good enough answers to get into the program?

Question 1: Why do you want to do the CP?:
I answered: I feel that it would be a great hands-on experience for me and what better place to work than the happiest place on Earth. I then told my interviewer, that I had been to Disney before, most recently this past March with my H.S. choir and did the Magic Music Days workshop and had a lot of fun.

Question 2: Describe previous work experience?:
I answered: Although I don't have any work experience, I do have volunteer experience working at my church's daycare during their summer program.

Question 3: The Space Mountain question, about the child being too small to ride. I replied and said: "First I would inform the parents that the child is infact to small to ride, but would let them know that there are other kid friendly rides within the park. Then mentioned if the parents wanted to ride, they could do the child swap as well.

Question 4: What would you say to a child if a certain character was no longer meeting guests?
I answered: I would tell the guest, let's say Pluto. I would say: Pluto got thirsty and needed to get a drink of water and needed to get his bone, but he would be back out later.

Question 5: Why would you want to be a character attendent?
I answered: It is the joy that is seem on child's face that would make me want to be a character attendent. Then I told her my personal story: When I was six and went to Disney how Chip and Dale stole my chips out of my bag and began to play with them and how thrilled I was about being involved with the character interaction.

Question 7: If in merchandise and your store didn't have a particular item that a guest wanted, what would you do?
I answered: I would call around to the other shops and see if they had the item. Then as a last resort, I would let the guest(s) know that they could order the item online or by phone once they got to their destination.

Question 8: Who has had the biggest influence in your life?
I answered: My parents. They have been their for me through thick and thin. I was born 1 lb 3oz and they have provided me with a solid backbone and if it wasn't for them. I wouldn't be here today.

After that, she just went over the basics again and that's when I thanked her for doing the interview then she asked if I had any questions, I had 2 .. Then it was done. 13 mins and 48 seconds (as what was on the phone timer)

Where my answers decent enough to get into the program doing one of the following: Merchandising, Character Attendent or Attractions?

Let me know (in your honest opinion!)

Thanks,

They were pretty good answers. You should creativity and enthusiasm which is a must. You also applied for heavily casted roles, which helps. Good luck, for what it is worth, I think you did well enough to make it in.

You knew a few things in your replies that I think are really gonna work in your favor...

- Knowing about child swap for attractions is a big plus for that role. And basically being ready with alternates as well... a plus. They always tell you to have your park maps and times guides ready to go.
- I think it's pretty impressive that you knew about how you can buy park merchandise online now. Especially since that is a remotely new feature. I'm gonna say that is REALLY gonna help you out there.

I'm gonna say your best chance would indeed be merchandise, followed by attractions. Character attendant doesn't cast NEARLY as much as those two do. It's a tough one to get, especially since they seem to have lessened the number accepted as CP in recent semesters. I know, I am one. There were a TON of CPs when I trained, 10 in my training group and just as many the week before and after my arrival. But after that, the training groups were smaller and smaller. When all my friends I trained with left, we didn't even have enough to replace the holes they left. It's sad, cus it's an awesome role.

I wish you luck!

I think a lot of your answers were great, especially knowing about child swap and sharing a personal Disney experience.

I've met some of the more mediocre cast members, and I can tell you they wouldn't think of answers like those. Good job, and good luck.
