Opinion - is a late Sat. evening walk-up to Jiko possible?

So, we are heading down early November. Our arrival day we're going to spend a few hours at Universal before heading over to AKL for our stay. We are planning on going into the park to catch Rivers of Light and a few other things. I am hoping to catch a quick bite at Nomad Lounge for a bite, but not sure if we will have a window of time that this would work. Rivers of Light is at 7:30 PM and park closes at 8 PM.

So, back to my question - if we went back to the resort at 8 PM on a Saturday, what would be the chances of us getting into Jiko for a bite? Has anyone had luck just walking up? We probably wouldn't get entrees, but maybe just appetizers or salads or the Charcuterie. I really don't want to make a reservation, because I think there's a low chance we actually do this...My other thought is heading over to Sanaa for a bread service (yum) but that involves a shuttle and we will probably be pretty tired at this point.

TIA

You shouldn't have a problem. Remember you can also sit at the bar if it is crowded.

I'll echo the bar point. My hubby and I have just walked up to Jiko and sat in the empty bar and had an incredible meal. Provided there aren't a lot of people in your party you won't have an issue.

Check the Disney app once you are headed to Jiko to see if you can get a reservation, if not, as people mentioned, you can eat in the Jiko Lounge.

Because few people 'stroll past' AKLodge, there will almost always be less last-minute demand at Jiko, particularly past 'typical' dinner-hour for youngsters.

So yes, I think your plan would work out just fine.

Every time we have been, it hasn't been crowded. Made a reservation the 1st time and there were seating's available. Next time, made no reservation and just walked up and was seated in the dining area. I think you would be fine. We have also walked up to Sanaa and Boma.
