Just returned from our great trip 2/17 thru 2/24
DS our Disney Buddy
Myself Patricia the planner
DD 12 Jenna loves an adventure
Let me begin by saying this was our 6th President's Week Disney Adventure, & it never gets boring. We still manage to see new things each time we travel. I try to plan our trip, first class on a low budget.
Below is brief list of our expenses.
Airfare total $200.00 per person round tip booked 330 day in advance one way fares:
USair by United $69.00 per person EWR to IAD to MCO 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM 2/17
Delta non stop MCO to LGA $99.00 2:30 to 5:00 PM 2/24
Rent a car Thrifty midsize car for $155.00 for the week
Disney tickets bought 3 years ago thru mousesavers codes & advice. We have non expired 10 hopper passes with 5 Days to Blizzard beach or Typhoon Logoon $379.00 per person. We have 5 days left on Disney.
We used a family members Timeshare at the Sheridan Vistana, so no cost to us for hotel.
We ordered Universal VIP tickets (fast pass) for Presidents Day $35.00 per person. I still needed our gate tickets, so I ordered the tickets on ebay. They were $60.00 each for a hopper 5 day pass. Don't flame me about buying them on ebay. I know, I took a chance, and was very lucky. The sellers had good rating, & we were grateful, for they sold us good tickets.
We ordered the Princess Pirate tickets which were $40.00 per person.
Food shop Walmart $80.00 (which took care of breakfast, lunches & most dinners) We ate out 4 times during the week 1 Dinner 2 late lunches (4pm) and the last day my favorite the "Waffle House" What ever snacks, my DD wanted in the parks, she could have. We packed frozen Lemonade daily for the parks, lunch, & many snacks, some healthy, some just junk. We really saved lot's by doing this. DD seemed to like my snacks over Disney's.
My DS who lives in Long Island New York meets us every year, in MCO airport. It is great for my DD to bond with here aunt, & I just love being with my big sister. She is fun pretty, & might I add, we eat healthy, with her (she is a weight watcher lecture)
Our travel plans for myself & daughter, were, we booked with USair, which was operated by United Airlines leaving from Newark, NJ.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 1 and 2
Our flight was to leave at 2:25 PM with a quick stop in IAD(Washington, DC) arrive in MCO at 7 PM at 2:25 PM our gate agent, announced, the flight is canceled, due to mechanical problems. The gate agents really weren't friendly I was very surprised. I felt so sorry for some of the people, there was maid of honor trying to arrive for the wedding the next day, a priest trying to catch a European flight, plus many more sad sad stories.
OK, No flights at all till Monday morning, only connecting flights if we were lucky (no non stop flights at all) We took what we could get for Monday. I went thru security again, and found, upstairs, another compassionate United agent. This one really worked hard trying to find us a flight. He found one, leaving 1:30 PM Sunday & arriving at 9:30 PM Orlando. Called Thrifty who said ok on, holding my car reservations till Sunday eve, and Vistana Sheridan worked out too. Went back home & ready for our Sunday adventure.
Day 2
Sunday Morning, we needed to go back to EWR Newark, NJ. We left at 9:00am other DS drove us.
Got to EWR printed out our boarding passes, United gave us vouchers for a cab to LGA New York airport.
Took about 1 hour to arrive to LGA. Went thru security, ate a quick brunch, & boarded our first flight at 1pm to Dayton Ohio. It was a bit scary landing in Ohio, since both sides of the runway was full of ice. The plane after ours skidded on ice & was off course on the runway. I don't think anyone was hurt. Very nice airport, and people were friendly & helpful.
We took off 4:00 PM to Charlotte, NC. We landed & had a quick dinner in the airport. It was a bit confusing for they changed gates, & never told anyone, gates were very far apart, lot's of walking, not good for us since we had our luggage with us.
Turns out or flight 6:30 PM fight was delayed till 8pm. We received bad news again, DS called, she was flying out of NY & her Jetblue flight was canceled, and so was her trip. We were so......upset.
8:40 PM we boarded our flight to MCO & landed in MCO about 10:00 PM. We made it to Orlando. YEAH!!!!!!!
We went down stairs to took the Thrifty bus, & went to the Thrifty locations, minutes from the airport. When I called Thirty to say we would be late, they said they would credit my payment the one day. The people at the Thrifty location, say no way. They were very pushy, & was trying to talk me into upgrading to a convertible. No thanks was not enough for them, they were very pushy. They also wanted me to buy the gas plan, everyone beware of these things before you go. Most times, it is cheaper to buy your own gas at the end of your trip.
We set off to the Vistana Sheridan at 11:00 PM. We were check in the Diamond Lanes, and check in went very quickly. We were given a room in the Cascades. It is simply magnificent. Full kitchen, washer dryer, Huge master sweet, with Jacuzzi. Screened patio, overlooking the pool. CD player TV in every room. I was so happy & grateful that we finally made it to our destination.
We quickly unpacked & off to bed, for we have big plans for the morning.
