We began attending a new church this year and I was amazed at the number of the red/green Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes that were available for the congregation.
At our last church, we always supplied our own shoeboxes and gave any extras to a Women's ministry group than enjoyed wrapping them in advance.
That way, a family could pick up a "pre-wrapped" box if they did not want to take the time to do it themselves.
This year, I saw a lot more plastic boxes and "official" Samaritan's purse shoeboxes than anything else.
And nope, none of that was a complaint Only an observation.
My family has done this for several years now. I shop Target $ spot sales and clearance racks all year and add to my shoebox stash. The back to school clearance is always great for crayons, notebooks ,etc. We are doing 4 boxes this year.
Thanks to the OP for point out this project to us. We used the plastic boxes too. This way they can keep their treasures safe. I watched the video on the site and the kid would rip into the boxes, thus making them almost useless to even take their stuff home. We got the ones with the lock on them. I wanted a whoppie cushion but DH would not allow it. I am bad I know. We did two boxes, a boy 5-9 and a girl 5-9. I will be delivering them on Friday to the drop-off site. We put in a card that wished them a Merry Christmas from their friends in the United State of American and signed our first names. It was a Mickey Christmas card.
