Hi everyone,

So excited! Just booked BCV for this years F&W!!!:cool1:

We have always gone over the Columbus Day weekend.... but this year had to move it up to the opening weekend...Sept 29th. I know its always jammed over Columbus Day... wondering how the opening weekend compares?

popcorn:: We're also arriving on the 29th for our first time at F&W. Anxious to hear the responses ...

I have been to the F&W fest twice for opening weekend, the crowd was not that bad. I find it very easy to get around at that time. We usually plan our trip around that time every year.

We are also going that weekend, 9/25-10/2. I've never been that weekend but think it might be busier than usual with the Tower of Tower 10 mile run in the 29th. I'm doing it!!! I'm so excited to be able to do a race, Halloween party and F&W the same trip. Can't wait!!

Opening weekend is marathon weekend - it was crowded. Last year we were also very disappointed that at least 75% of the special events (including Party For The Senses) were not starting until the following weekend - and the vast majority of the cooking demonstrations were with WDW resort chefs and not celebrity chefs. We're planning to wait until the schedule is released and stay offsite this year so we can book the events we want to attend. We  F&W sooooooo much!!!!

We were at BCV last year and it was an awesome location. I just wish the F&W schedule was out in advance for DVC owners to make reservations, but I understand why they don't publish it until summer.

Didn't realize there was a marathon same weekend.... But, we are there thru Thursday, so hopefully weekdays will be a bit better until the crowds start coming in for the holiday weekend..and we are used to that crowd ...seems bigger every year.

I figured there would be limited events the first week, so I might just have to tough it out and hang by the pool more than I usually do. Lol.

I was happily surprised to get a 2BR at BCV... I usually book right at the 11 month mark.

Due to an illness in the family, haven't been able to get back to the World for a couple of years. I was so excited to get the ressie, you would have thought I won the lottery or something... hahhah. Now if I can figure out how to fit in a trip to Vero this spring ..... it would be perfect!!

Also keep in mind that Oct 1 is the 30th aniversary of EPCOT.

We were there this year (October 1-2) and it was not too bad (note 10/1 was the 40th Anniversary of WDW).

F&W was definitely less crowded during the day than in the evening. I definite suggest that. Book a restaurant for the evening (lately I like Hacienda de San Angel for their OK cuisie and their AMAZING view of Illuminations). We one demonstration: the Scent Demonstration with Chandler Burr and it was pretty neat!

We also did MNSSHP Sunday night.

We had a car, so we did get detoured around a bit while the race was running.

Overall though the crowds were not bad at all. We saw many folks with their medals on at Epcot, but still not too crowded at all.
