opening of MK in the mornings?

When we went to MK on our trip there was a family up in the station with Mickey and the the other Characters, there name was called out and they got to open the park with Mickey. How do you get to do this? Is there anyway of getting up there?

According to the Brits guide (I'm always quoting this book - lol), the family are picked at random to sprinkle the fairy dust and officially open the park. I think they later get to ride in the parade as well. The only way I can think of is to perhaps make sure you are there really early, perhaps wear something quite unusual.

I thought it would be a cool thing to do but I guess we'd not be picked cos we don't have kids. I suspect they probably pick families with young children.

Thanks for that,I have 2 of simons books must start reading them again. I am waiting for the new one to come out later this year

Maybe we should get there extra early and all wear the same tops. I would love to do this.

We opened Epcot in May. My suggestion is have an outstanding child (and get to the park early)!! Mine had red hair and a very loud voice. She was picked out to do some magic tricks and then we were asked to be family-of-the-day. Unlike our child, both myself and my husband are quiet. I thought my husband was going to die of embarrassment when he had to stand in front of hundreds of people and count down from 10 to zero ! We got to meet the characters on the bus and received a fast pass but we would have done it for nothing!!

Wow that must of made your holiday I can't imagine how you would feel up there infront of all those people. I bet you felt very special and had a great day.
