** OPENING DAY PRICING 2017 Pt 3 September-December: Magic, Wonder, Dream, Fantasy **

I cancelled our 2016 WBTA b2b with 7 night med due to some unforeseen expenses. I have re-booked for next year.

2017
WBTA 9c. 2a2k (but one child will be 13 and a higher rate): $4581.80. No OBB no Ins.
7 night med 9/9/17 9c. 2A 2K: $3905 WITH OBB, no ins

compare 2016:
WBTA 2a2k 9c $4237 no Obb, no insurance. Also opening day prices, so not accounting for increases due to my sons age, about $320 more in 2017
7 night med 9/10/16 9c 2a2k: $4770.60 WITH OBB, no ins, opening day prices. Difference accounting for increase due to age $900 LESS in 2017!
Congrats on rebooking. Yeah, they are offering all kinds of discounts on those Sept Med cruises this year. I guess they overpriced them a bit. If I stick with with the WBTA I might add on the 7 day med. These are probably the best priced cruises I've seen without last minute discounts in like...ever. We are eligible for some discounts, and the 10 day Baltic cruise is so outrageously priced I'm waiting to see what happens with that. I have 2 kids also. They would be in heaven to spend 18 nights on a cruise.

What do you do about school? Are your kids home schooled? I spoke to the director this afternoon at DS school and you know that feeling when you were a kid and got called to the principals office, well that, yikes. "You want to take your 5th grader out for what"...the shock and horror missing 11 school days. I went back to my fifth grader self and kind of laughed a little inside.
Also question on airfare, why when I price out a one way to Barcelona it is almost the same as round trip, what is up with that?
For that reason I think we will stick with WBPC. Less airfare and have Southwest credit, so both cruises come out to almost the same. Ugh.... Again 11 days no school

Yes they are homeschooled. I'm not sure we can continue this through high school. They are currently 12 and 13. I work full time, but I'm a nurse so it's 3 12 shifts per week which leaves 4 days a week for year round school. My husband works for an airline so we don't have to pay for flights. We do fly standby. The last 7 years have been fun with all the off season traveling, and we've done a lot of traveling. I know a lot of people home school through high school. If I want to continue this I need a plan...and maybe a tutor for certain subjects. They are really good kids, and I have no regrets with the path we chose. Although my 12 year old swears he's learned nothing from all the trips, and he's just in it for the "free" ice cream.

I have heard some schools prefer you to withdraw your child and enroll them again when you return. It is so crazy. If you home school, no one bothers you, but if you go to public school and want to take your child out for anything, the school treats you almost like a criminal. We have experience with both public school and homeschool.

:rotfl2: Sounds like my 9 yo.
I have a tutor for over the summer that also home schools some high schoolers, so it's very possible. I thought of it a few times myself, but I work full time and that just won't work and besides he's an only so I rather have him around other kids.

I still can't get over the flights. Decisions decisions .....

Btw I've always admired nurses, don't know how you do what you do. After having 2 grandparents in hospital, ( I always had overnight shifts- not great English skills for them) I promised to thank all nurses for what they do. So Thank you for being a nurse :flower3:.

Our DS is in non- public school and they do have a better attitude towards that but like I said you fell like you are doing something so terrible, it may scar them for life. Like that file they have on you, the permanent record, they threatened you with when you were a kid, wonder what ever happened to mine? The nuns were sure I was going to hell, and here I am planning Disney Cruises.

Now I need opinions to bring my DH's delusions of a cat T back to reality, what are the draw backs of booking Two cat 4b or 4a connecting SR besides paying full fare for DS and no cat T fluff? Anyone ever do that? I know DS and adult in one room, and adult single in another.
First he asks for the TA to do both WBTA and EBTA in cat T then he complains, rightfully so, but he knew going in.

He is making me crazy and our TA crazy, that is all I can come up with to save a bit of $ and get 2 baths and more space. And yes in the same breath he says well then we don't get the perks, so I give up.

Thank you for that. My 12 year old is a riot. He makes me laugh everyday. My 13 year old is very serious, and very smart. Two kids same parents, but yet so different.

My parents pulled me out of school all the time. I guess times have changed. Im guessing schools get state reimbursement for attendance? Schools important, but there are so many different ways to learn. So many factors affect what kind of adult you become. School is just a small part of it. Family time is so important, and I think the whole family values, stucture is going by the wayside in this country.
