** OPENING DAY PRICING 2017 Pt 2 May/September: Magic, Wonder, Dream, Fantasy **

Depending upon when you tried to modify it is, that is. I booked this morning, but after talking with DH, we decided we wanted to change rooms/decks. I have been trying to modify my reservation online for over an hour without any luck. The phone lines are just ringing busy now too:( I think I should be ok on waiting until later to day to modify it, since Western Caribbean 7 nights don't go too fast, I hope.

If you are just changing room categories on the same cruise you locked in pricing when you booked. So whether you change today or 6 months from now your price stays the same as you booked at today in all room categories

I am technically changing categories, because we are moving one floor higher. However, I kind of want a specific room too. Picky, I know:rolleyes: So, I just don't want the room to be gone. I am not worried about the prices. They don't seem to really move on WC cruises until about 100 days out.

$21K for 5 of us in a balcony stateroom on the British Isles cruise.:crazy2: We could do the same itinerary on Princess in a Suite for less than that.

For next summer, I'll stick with our 8 nt Norway/Denmark cruise out of Dover on RCCL's Independence. Five people in connecting balcony staterooms for $7K.

Adios DCL. I won't even bother checking itineraries or prices anymore.

Just put a hold on the following. I really just wanted to modify my existing one, but the website is not cooperating. At least this way, no one else can get the room until I can get through:sad2:

Its one of the benefits of seeing those first day prices... you're well prepared for the sticker shock! :)

As a general rule, is day 1 really the best pricing offered?

Generally yes, however depending on how well a cruise sells and what deals DCL offers (mostly for Florida residents and military lately) you may see a price less if you book with restrictions close to the sailing date. There are a few exceptions to that rule such as the British Isles cruise this year which sounds like an oddball.

June 28, 2017
Disney Magic 11 night Norwegian Fjords/Iceland
10A Secret Porthole (2A, 1C-age 7)
OBB
No ins/transfer
$8866

Anyone have experience with picking up a room for 5 after 2 day hold? Prices went up so much that they may have priced me out of my deposit this week. But I defiantly can pay in two. Didn't know if prices would jump again in such a short time.

Disney Fantasy
June 10,2017
Cat 4B
2A 2C
$9720.28 with transfers, no insurance or flight

$450 on board credit through Dreams Unlimited.

That is 50% more than a near identical cruise on the Fantasy in 2014 at the same time in the exact same room (literally booked the same cabin number as before)

My wife is going to kill me later when I tell her how much.

After booking August 28th Alaskan early this morning we decided the Sept 4th would work better, my total call time was 45 minutes, and I was thrilled we were able to get the same stateroom we had on the Aug. 28th even though it wasn't showing available online. Do they not show all available staterooms in a category online, because the same thing happened when I booked the Aug. 28th early this morning?

Here is what we switched to:

September 4-11, 2017 7-night Alaskan
Cat. 9a - 2a/2c (17,14)
OBB
no ins/trans
$6341.72 ($1764/1764/1008/1008)
$797.72 taxes/fees

Not always. I'm getting the feeling a lot of people booking cruises aren't really comfortable with the price they're paying. I'm sure a lot of people that booked today will end up cancelling down the road. A lot can happen over the course of the year that affect people finances. I would never want to over extend myself on the cost of a vacation. I get the feeling we'll see some discounts after the PIF date on many of these higher priced cruises.

After being on hold for almost an hour this morning, I got through and booked our next cruise!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :jumping1:

Finally got a quote for the June 28th Norwegian Fjords/ Iceland (everything above Deck 7 in a Cat 5A seems to be sold out)
Me and a 6 year old-

2A- $6479 pp + $258.62 taxes and fees

$13,216.62

No Ins, No OBB

Can anyone, who has done this cruise in the past, tell me if these are normal opening day prices? My TA thought it would be much lower. I was willing to go down to a Cat 7 obstructed even...but the price for that is still ridiculous.

We are paying less than $12,000 for 4 people in 2 cat 5a cabins for the 6/29/2016 7 day Norwegian Fjords cruise. So, about $3,000 per person.

To the price you received, I would reply: "Norway, Jose!"

Ha ha.. Unfortunately I couldn't talk, on account of my jaw falling to the floor... ;).
I'm searching other lines now..MSC has a great Iceland itinerary but it's almost sold out in category's that I want. I'm also hoping that after reading other posts, a VGT may open up on the 6/28...if it sells the same as this year... It frightens me to book that though!
