I'm sure this has been posted on the boards before but I came up empty-handed on the search function. Does anyone know when the new Rip Ride Rockit rollercoaster will be opening? It says Spring 2009 but I'm just wondering if anyone has an idea of more specific timing. We'll be there in March and I would LOVE to get a chance to ride it.

Thanks very much!

No one knows...nothing has been released. I don't expect it to open before June of next year.

I'm certainly not holding my breath for our late May trip, but for HHN19 in October, well, it had better be open!!! :)

me too akdar!!!

hhn time is fine with me for it.

spring can be anytime from march 20 up to june 21st.

hopefully the ride will be up and running for the summer at the latest.

if the new ride is not open when you come for your vacation, plan another one for the next year to catch the ride.

It looks like their first priority is getting the stage done. There were some new pictures up of that work on screamscape lately.

Yeah...with Mardi Gras right around the corner, that needs to be done.

THere have been a lot of problems with construction on this ride. Because they are building it so close to a lot of the other attractions and the soundstages, rumor has it the plans to the park were not accurate. I talked to someone at the park who was there a few weeks ago on a Saturday and there was a gas line break over there. I stopped to ask an employee some questions and they started telling me that there have been nothing but problems from the start. Before that they hit a sewage line and filled it with concrete! Then they had clean it out and repair it. I went to see Blue Man that same night as the gas main break and when I went in for the show, there was a smell of raw sewage. I saw some employees running around in there cleaning stuff up...being the nosey person that I am, I asked someone with a staff tshirt on what was going on, they mumbled something about "the rollercoaster construction".

Anyway, I imagine they're not right on track with this construction!

you must be lucky.

i've never been able to have any employee tell me things like that about the park/rides.

I did a search on this ride but couldn't find much info. Does anybody have info on what kind of a ride it is?
