Opening date for Nemo's Submarine Voyage confirmed

Well June 29 is my last day wouldn't you know it! Once I get into the park, I just intend to stay out of Tomorrowland except for the one day I commit to riding this ride and to ride Buzz and Space on fastpasses I make my husband go in and get I just hate to wait 45-60 minutes to even enter the park. But I would rather be doing that then being home so I guess it will be fine. Mostly I am just worried, I'll have my aunt with me and she has a hip problem that could make standing in long lines sort of tough.

I do not think it will be the doomsday scenario everyone here is making it out to be. If Nemo opens June 11 then there will be 2 1/2 weeks there before the AP blackout begins. That will spread AP holders out over that time. Plus the folks with EE will have a huge advantage over the AP holders on EE days because you can either ride Nemo during EE (if DL does this) or get in line for Nemo before the AP holders can get into the parks.

The 45-60 minute comment was about a Sunday in June - days that are non-blackout days. The Sundays will be worst for AP holders squatting on the Nemo ride, and there is no EE on Sundays. It is best to avoid Nemo (and possibly DL altogether) on those two Sundays (June 17 and 24). Also, the first couple days - June 11, 12, etc., will also be pretty busy for the Nemo ride. If you want to ride it those days, get there early. As it gets closer to the end of the month I think it will settle down somewhat, especially on weekdays.

Personally, I would rather have gone in August this summer, but we have the other trip I told you about in June which dictated the DLR visit for the last week of June. So we will do our best. We only have three days, and I am hoping we can ride Nemo twice. We'll see.

Yeah, I think you're right. The only day I am worried about is the 24th, I know we will want to go the park that day since that is my aunt's first full day there and she only has four full days. I am just going to the hope for the best for her hip's sake! I too in some ways wish we were going in August, when I made the plans for this trip, August didn't work with my dd's school schedule. Now she has changed schools so that wouldn't matter but we are committed to June, so June it is! Nemo and all! I guess it would serve me right to have a crowd issue since I am always the one praising summertime as the best time to go to DL with the longer hours and lack of refurbs happening!

You and me both. But I do not consider June as entirely in the summer category. Even DLR doesn't think that it is full summer as they still allow APs in and have grad nights thru the third week of June. I usually consider DLR fully into summer operations on about July 1 up thru about Aug 20, which coincides with the AP blackout period and when DLR goes to maxed out park hours for DL and DCA.

I agree. I have done both June and early August and June was better crowdswise. Although August wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. So our mid to late June trips to me have felt like the best of both worlds. Long hours, little if any refurbs and not the tremendous crowds you have beginning in July. The thing that can make June dicey is the school groups and the fact the So. Cal Ap'ers are out in full force. Last June we dealt with the POTC premier, this year it will be Nemo but at least our first day at DL will be over a week after the opening. Next year, we will be going to either DL or WDW the two weeks following Memorial Day so we'll see what that holds. I hadn't given it a second thought until my husband's aunt and her daughter decided to join us. I think this will likely be a one and only DL trip for them and I want them to have fun! Personally, crowds don't bother me but long lines do. The longest line I have ever waited in at DL was probably for GRR our first trip when I was too dumb to know better and that was only about a 40 minute line! I doubt aunt and cousin will ride too much, but I do want them to be able to explore and enjoy the park without waiting 45 minutes to get in and I don't want my aunt to be smushed in wall to wall crowds with her hip problems. Their dates are June 23-27, , so their trip is the last weekend before the So. Cal ap's blackout. I am just afraid alot of the special touches of DL will be lost for them in the sea of Nemo fans!

OT Warning...

Uh oh, watch out. We were originally targeting WDW Spring Break 2008 but turns out that Easter falls on the first Sunday we would be there in 2008 and the WDW boards insist it is crazy crowded around Easter. I can handle Spring Break crowds, but Easter sounds worse. Plus, a Spring Break trip limits us to an 8 1/2 day trip.

We had a family meeting last week and decided to do a May/June trip and leave for WDW on the day school gets out which for us happens during Memorial day week next year. That will allow us more days in Florida (my kids want to go to the Space Center). So if you opt for WDW next year we will cross paths again. :cool2:

Are you guys following us? ;)

Next year, my kids get out of school the Friday before Memorial Day weekend. So yes, we may meet again as they say. Spring Break at WDW is supposedly awful. We won't make up our minds if its Disneyland or WDW until January. If I don't get to ride Nemo this June, that will definitely swing us in the westward direction! That is too funny we may have trips that overlap next year too!

Oh and on the Nemo issue what is your gut feeling if they will have this open for EE?

okay this might be a dumb question, but if june 11th is an ee day then wouldn't the ee's get in before the nemo line? I hope it is an ee ride!!!!!:thumbsup2
