Opening Connecting Doors

Is it possible to open the connecting doors between cabins yourself or does it require the stateroom host to do it?

And will they stay open by themselves or do you need to bring bungee cords like you had to on the Magic class ships?

Also, same question for the balcony dividers....does the host have to open that also?

If you have reservations for both rooms, the doors will be open when you get to the cabin and the doors on the Dream stay open without any help. The same with the verandah dividers. They will be opened by the steward when you get to your cabin.

Yes, both rooms are ours, but under different names...my name on one and my wifes name on the other...so (2) separate reservations, but linked.

So they will know to open the doors before we get to the rooms?

The interior connecting doors open just like hotel room connecting doors. The veranda dividers need a key to open, so just ask the steward when you first board.

They work the same way hotel connecting doors work- both doors have locks on them and you can only unlock the door from your cabin, the other party unlocks the door to their side. To answer your question- You can lock/unlock your doors at anytime, but they are usually already unlocked and opened when the connecting rooms have linked reservations.

We always get connecting rooms with the kids in one room and DH and I in the other. We will shut the door so the little one can nap without the other kids waking her, or to pretend we are on a cruise all alone lol.

Thanks for asking because I was wondering the same thing. We have connecting rooms on the wonder in April for the MR.

We had the same situation...my husband was on 1 room and I was on the other. As long as the reservations are linked you are good to go. The kids shared a cabin and we had the other. It worked out great and they loved having their own cabin.

After having to prop those heavy connecting doors open on the Wonder (and probably Magic I'd assume), we were so excited to have them be a light door on the Dream. No bungie cords needed. The doors stay open on the Dream like a normal door.

I don't believe our doors were open when we got to our cabin but we simply opened them up. We left them open the whole time and Mousekeeping never closed them.

No. Your stateroom host has devices to prop them open for you. They are big and heavy on the Magic, and are great at keeping noise out in the event that you are not with the people next door.

I don't know how the noise situation is on the Dream/Fantasy.

We had connecting cabins on the Baltic (and will again to go to Canada in August). We just used a normal door stopper to keep the doors open and it worked fine the whole cruise. We only closed the doors when we were sleeping.

We could hear normal conversations through the adjoining doors when the ship was docked - no need for an alarm clock when returning to Canaveral. When we were underway, I never noticed anything quieter than a shout.
