One of the best things we experienced at WDW in January was the opening ceremony--my kids loved throwing the pixie dust and wishing for a magical day at Disney. Do they do that at DL?

They do an official countdown to opening of the front gates which includes a family chosen at the front gates to assist with the countdown. They also do "rope drop" when Main Street opens earlier than the rest of the park.

No pixie dust is involved in either of these, though.

If you have vouchers for Mickey's Toontown Morning Madness - available in WDTC packages - there's a neat ceremoney that you get to watch and the characters are all there and dance. At the end you get ToonTown Honorary Citizen Buttons. That's kind of a neat thing.
