Opening ceremonies: Do you have any tips?

What time to arrive? Where to stand? What happens???

For MK? I would say get there 20 minutes or so before the park is scheduled to open. You will be herded into the area in fromt of the train station. I think about anywhere you stand in there will be fine. Maybe closer to center is better. I really like this opening ceremony. It puts you in a good mood for the day

When we were there at MK, we didn't actually enter the park. Instead we stood right behind the gate directly in front of the Mickey face in front of the train station. It wasn't as crowded, we had a great view and my son was able to stand on a big planter with a little girl about his age while the moms held on to them. Once the ceremony was over, we went through the turnstile without anyone pushing and the area inside had cleared out as everyone went into the park. It felt much better for me with a small child.

MK has the most elaborate opening ceremony. The openings for Epcot and AK are simple affairs and I did not see the opening for MGM.

The opening ceremonies are a nice touch.

Last year, on the first day of our holiday, we were chosen as Family of the day at Epcot. My daughter was just chosen by a CM, who commented on her sun-hat, he then went on to show her some magic tricks. We were then asked to go under the rope. My DH was unaware what was going to happen (doesn't go on these sites so is kept in the dark! ), I however had a feeling what they were going to ask us to do.....and started to fill up with tears. We had to stand in front of the gathering crowd and count down from 10 and shout "Welcome to Epcot". It was so cool
We were given 3 fastpasses to cover the main 3 rides(M:S,Soarin' and TT). It was probably the highlight of the holiday.

How to get chosen - i really don't know.....have a cute ginger haired girl with you might help!!
