Open Tag Lines? or No More TFs?

I was browsing through the F.A.Q. for the boards and the question about tags brought something to mind.

What would happen if the board moderators opened the tag lines so that users could add not only their own statement but color as well?

Would it cause a disruption similar to the one that occurred over the closing of the Debate Board?

Would you agree with this or disagree?

Could you clarify what you mean, please. I don't understand what you mean by "disruption" and I don't get the connection between color or colorless tags and the DB/CB. Then ... maybe I can throw in my opinion. Thanks!

I think it'd be great if we could add our own tags, in COLOR. I think it'd take the stress off of the so-called "tag fairy" and all the begging that has gone on, that the "tag fairy" seems to abhor and gets upset over.

I've had my tags for a few years now, and I have a feeling that my particular "tag fairy" no longer is with the DIS (of course I could be wrong), but it'd be nice to be able to add some new tags in color (in addition to the ones I already have).

I guess I was thinking that if individual posters were allowed to add color to their own tags, then you could really never tell if it was a Tag Fairy tag or just something that one added on their own.

I know there is a tried and true core of Tag Fairy supporters everywhere on the Dis but especially on the CB. Would this upset you? Would it cause a "disruption" on the boards? By disruption I only mean people that are upset, calling for the change to be repealed, threads started in condemnation of the change, etc.

Or, would you like the fact that you could add you own tags in color?

Ugh, got booted in the middle of posting. Let me try again.

So, is the connection between the tag colors and the DB being closed ... change in a policy or a way of posting? Is that the connection. I don't think I'm getting it. Here is what I'm gonna say, tell me if I'm on the right track or not. LOL!

Would the change in the way we are allowed to apply the tags to our names upset me? No. None of the TF stuffs upsets me either, except when people are telling others what they can or can not do in regards to the TF. Otherwise, I'm unaffected by the TF. I think it's nice that they do what they do, and I like the colors in my tag and the last line in my tag that I did not put there, but that's about all the thoughts I have on the TF. It may make a difference if I could put the colors in my tag, it may not. I really never think about it.

As far as the DB being closed, the change in policy there, I feel sorry for those that miss the board, but it didn't have an affect on me one way or the other. It does not cause a disruption or difference in my CB/DIS experience. Like life (or the TF for that matter), I make of my CB/DIS experience what I want. I do not like the "Bring back the DB" threads, or the "The change in the CB" threads. I think they cause more division or disruption than merging the two boards. The debate threads cause no disruption for me whatsoever.

How'd I do, did I get it? LOL! If I missed the point, I'm sorry.

I prefer the Tag Fairy to tag to add colors to the tags. And it's nice for him/her to add her own special tags under your own tags.

I like the system the way it is. It is fun to see what the mischievous tag fairy will put under people's name - It also makes you wonder about the "story behing the tag".

I agree, but some people would like to add a little color to their names, but don't know how to do it. I understand you can make your own tag, but can't add color. I really don't care either way, but I've seen tag begging around here before. I don't post much, but I do read a lot.

By all means let people add, delete, modify their own tags in any color they want. That way no one begs to be tagged, begs not to be tagged, claps, whistles, burps or anything else.

To answer your question..yes I think it would cause an uprising..maybe bigger than the DB!

I like it the way it is..would I be upset if it changed..probably not; but I can imagine the uproar!!!

People dont like the tag fairy threads now..just change the rules and you'll see all the threads that come up!

I wouldn't mind being able to make my own tags in color. ...Actually, although I love my tags, there is a grammar error in the top one and it bugs me (should be "requests" not "request"). I wish I could fix it and not go back to basic black, but oh well. If I weren't so anal about spelling and grammar, I wouldn't care.

I don't mind the tag begging/clapping. If the TF doesn't like it, then the TF can ignore the beggars and not give them tags.

My tag hasn't changed in the last year. Doesn't bother me, I know there are so many people out there and the tag fairy has lots of pixie dust to spread. The tag being in color or just in black and white doesn't define who I am on the boards or who I used to be. To know me is to love me!! (or the other way around!! )

I like the different colors, the pinks, blues, reds! I don't really care either way, cause I like my tag!

I vote for the TF's...gotta have a little piece of the magic...

Besides, it's like Christmas everytime I log on, looking to see if I said something dumb enough or profound enough to earn a tag.
