Open Table anxiety

How far in advance can you book with open table?

It depends on the restaurant. Some are 30, 60, or 90 days, others are more than that - whenever they have the dates and times loaded.

To piggy-back on this... Is there any issue if you're on the Dining Plan (Deluxe in my case) and use Open Table? I got a much better time at The Boathouse through Open Table than through Disney.
None at all. Reservations, including ADRs, have no bearing on the dining plan. Look at an Open Table reservation as just a walk up to any WDW restaurant.

Thank you!

Over thanksgivinweek I literally booked the restaurant 2 hours ahead- and showed up 30 minutes early to a ready table.

ETA- read that wrong. But open table allows more flexibility without a penalty for cancellation!

To echo rwdavis2, there is no distinction between Open Table reservations and Disney ADRs regarding a dining plan. They're both reservations--how you pay for them is up to you. Also agree that how far out you can use OT varies from restaurant to restaurant. We've done them 2-3 months out at some places and literally as we were pulling into a resort after a last-minute change of plans.

Never had any issues with Open Table. It's actually better than booking through Disney because there aren't any cancellation fees.

The dining plan is merely an alternate form of payment. the reservation has no bearing on how you plan to pay, unless it's a prepaid admission place.

I use OpenTable whenever I can because their cancellation policy is much better than Disney's. I've never had an issue using them.

Can you book any Disney restaurant on open table?

No. The non-Disney-owned ones at Disney Springs are about it I think.

"RUMOR: Disney Restaurants at Walt Disney World to be added to Open Table for Reservations."

Does this mean no more credit card guarantees for Disney restaurants or will they maintain that?

If they keep it, really no big deal ... but if not what a can of worms.

It does point out that there is the opportunity to require a credit card to guarantee the reservation.

They could also set the Disney restaurants to be a "cannot book more than 30 days in advance" restriction to not affect the 180+10 advantage for people staying on property. I could see them doing that, because they tout that as an advantage of on property and as far as I know there is not a way for them to restrict OpenTable for "Group A at 180+10 and Group B at 30".

Didn't read the article but I doubt it would take away the guarantee. Sometime when I use Open Table in NYC I need to guarantee with a credit card, so it's a feature they already have. Granted you can still cancel that day with those reservation.

Just reported that it's started at a few restaurants, not all ... there is NO CREDIT CARD guarantee .... but you can't book 180 out, they reported on being able to see dates out through Feb 28th. Will be a watch and see how it evolves.

As of today reservations are on Open table. I only searched for a Sunday in January but on property restaurants are listed.

If people start abusing it and it cost Disney money, I think a card will eventually be required as well.

Yes, as I said we'll have to watch it evolve. Right now with it limiting how far you can book out, it isn't much use to those who abuse the system and book multiples of popular places ... those will already be gone.

I think what it really shows is that some restaurants are having difficulty filling to levels they want/need.

That is a good point. Never thought of that. Maybe they have surpassed what many people will pay for a meal at some of the locations.

I know many of the places I would eat at and enjoy, have gotten to the the price point that I won't go back. They just aren't that good.

Interesting they are starting with some of the resort resteraunts.

No surprise to me. Most have openings available at least minute and without a car they are a pain to get to for Disney guests. They are trying to appeal to locals or those offsite by using this app.

What is more surprising is Boatwrights and Flying Fish. I remember the day when getting in to those was impossible, and even once there long waits.

None of the included restaurants are considered very popular, they're all at resorts and no character meals.
