Open Port Orleans Already!-Opening OCT 14th & 28th!!!!

There was a Rumor posted this morning on one of the Blogs I go on... thought I’d share.

Is Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts reopening this July?

“Reports were circulating online yesterday about Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter having an opening date change to August 1, 2021. Trip Advisor had made a change to the resorts taking reservations, saying it would allow reservations to be made Aug 1. There has been no official word from Disney.”
Ohhhhhh. I so want to snatch up a reservation for our September/October trip. I hope this is true!

That would be awesome! I check at least once a day to see if either have availability for October. I would switch to either but would prefer POFQ

Hmmm I just checked on Trip Advisor for Aug 5th and it does not allow anything. Fingers crossed it is soon!

I spoke to a cast member last night to change a reservation, and asked her about Port Orleans opening as we would rather stay there than Coronado. She said Port Orleans will not open in 2021. I realize CM's can be incorrect, however, she seemed pretty confident in her answer.
It may have been the original plan to not open in 2021 but with things now turning around very quickly and getting back to normal, they hopefully find a reason to open it sooner.

1. I concur with the first post! Open it. And while I'm giving orders:

2. Disney, have a safe, well-lit walkway between the Port Orleans resorts and EPCOT. (EPCOT's parking lot is across the road from Port Orleans.) I like to walk, & I don't like Disney World busses. You'll need stairs and either ramps or elevators to get over the road. I'll settle for a skyway, mini-monorail, train or submarine.

3. And I'd like a walkway (admittedly a long one) between the Animal Kingdom Lodge & the Animal Kingdom park. Maybe call it a portage. And I'd also like a train between the AK & AKL. Theme it to the Jungle Book, Black Panther or whatever.

4. Disney, when you've done these things, return to me for further instructions.

TTFN,
Tom Sinsky

It would make sense to open more resorts ahead of October. With the pandemic circling the drain (mostly), and the potential to open up more park reservations, all these people are going to need some place to sleep and keep their stuff.

Come on Disney. You can close Coronado and Caribbean Beach I don’t care, just please open one of your most stunning resorts. At least open the walkways and shop. I just want to walk amongst the beauty. It’s been a staple of all my trips to visit there and walk the grounds. I’m begging you! Anyone else with me?

I agree 100%

I just tried to book POFQ for October on Trip advisor this is their response

Contact accommodation for availability.
There are similar hotels available.

Was looking this morning and not a ton of on-site availability for fall and early winter and rates for AoA are INSANE... Hopefully this means they will open PO/FQ here soon.

We walked around the Port Orleans grounds and ate supper there in 2019, but haven't stayed there yet. Hoping to stay there in 2022, but they aren't even booking Port Orleans for October 2022 yet :( They quoted me some prices for Pop and CBR, but I wasn't inspired to reserve anything yet. Please Disney, open Port Orleans before then! (And offer the military discount :) )

Port Orleans Riverside is what we call our home resort.. we love the French Quarter side as well... We have reservations for the last few days of Sept, and the first few of Oct. at Coronado Springs... and while it is a lovely resort I really am hoping that one of the Port Orlean's hotels open up. So that I can switch over to POR or POFQ...

Since I am a local we know people that work at Disney, behind the scenes, in different departments. While they all state that everything right now is just kinda happening in waves... depending on ---- the numbers improve with vaccines, cases in covid decline, getting people to return to work, one guy said there are so many moving parts behind the curtain... as well you have some retraining to go through... What I got was that they want all the resorts opened, and the parks at normal numbers by the 50th celebration. One friend said that park hours for the 50th might be like the old summer hours where the parks are opened till 1:00 in the morning. Again this is nothing from Disney itself... just what a couple of people think it sorta looks like is happening... One guy did say in the coming months things are going to start moving along nicely...

So I'm having a lot of Faith, Hope and a ton of Pixie Dust... pixiedust: pixiedust:::yes::pixiedust:pixiedust:
