Just back from a 3-day stay and noticed for the first time people walking around Hollywood Studios park with plastic cups of beer. When did this happen? I know you can drink around the World's in World Showcase but I'm hoping that Disney isn't going alcohol-able in all their parks. <crossing my fingers>

You could always drink at mgm and ak. During the Osbourne lights they sell eggnog (spiked) and other Christmas drinks.

I don't think this is new. For years we have been getting Dad's Electric Lemonades at the Tune Inn Lounge "to go" and will drink them while we wait for the parade or Fantasmic. Once we even brought them into Fantamsic with us.

The PPs are correct. The only dry park is Magic Kingdom. Otherwise adult beverages has always been available for purchase (and consumption) at the other three parks.

Can't wait till we're there this weekend! :thumbsup2

All the PP's are correct. MK is the only "dry" park. Most of the CS places in AK, Epcot (even in FW), and DHS offer "to-go" beverages!

Disney has a Roaming liquor license in other words you can drink anywhere... They however for the most part keep MK dry --weddings and other events are the exception...
They also make you finish your drink before you leave a park but the hotels and now PI are another story...

The spiked eggnog sounds wonderful while enjoying the Osbourne Christmas lights.

:santa::santa::santa:

Yeah, the only Disney park in Orlando I haven't been able to drink is MK. Never been to Blizzard Beach, but I know I've enjoyed icy cold mugs of suds in Typhoon Lagoon, too.

Now if we could only get the MK to get with the program..a Mickey margarita or a Mickey mojito would be really swell!l

Whatever fears you have over alcohol in the parks are not very well founded if you haven't even noticed it until now.

First off I would like to say J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets to you, cdtommie!

It is very unlikely that MK will ever serve alcohol. Supposedly, Walt didn't think too highly of alcohol or those who enjoy it and, at his request, vowed to never allow alcohol in the MK. :scared1: But I have heard rumors of alcohol being served at private parties, where MK is closed to the general public. Not sure if that is true or not.

With that being said, at one point a Beauty and the Beast themed restaurant was in the plans for the FL Expansion (not sure if it still is :confused3). If it still is in the plans, and is still planned to be a French restaurant, I can't see how they can justify not serving wine. French cuisine and wine kind of go hand-in-hand.

OhThePain, was just having a little fun with the alcohol police...I actually did quaff a couple of beers once at the MK's 999 Happy Haunts event (and it just felt so wrong).

Still drying out from last nights game...nothing worse than the 70 mile drive home at 1AM when you are completely soaked.

YUMMY! I wish:woohoo:

I know a lot of people say not-in-MK-because "it's for families" or "that's the way Walt wanted it"

Well, families are at the other parks too, and I rarely see out of control drinking going on there (only time I actually saw drunks was a couple of old ladies on scooters-grandma types- high as kites, & driving like it!)

Walt drank Scotch -- until the day he died. Even drank it through a straw when he was undergoing cancer treatments in the end. I believe his drink of choice was a "scotch mist."

And it's not rumor -- alcohol can definitely be available at private parties in MK. I believe there are even beer carts backstage for when the park closes to regular guests and reopens for private corporate events.

Not everyone who consumes alcohol is raging drunk. Perhaps you have a bad experience from your childhood, but if you have been to any of the other parks you have certainly been around others consuming alcohol. I don't like that the MK doesn't serve alcohol hence we don't eat at all in the MK, we hence monorail to the MK resorts so we can enjoy an adult beverage (or 3) with dinner.

Alway love the what would Walt do or what would Walt think.

Walt liked his liquor with a cigarette!

Walt also liked to smoke and did smoke in the parks

In Walts memory, lets bring smoking everywhere in the parks back!

It may be unhealthy and irritating, but we "must" preserve Walt's ideas and never change!

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Really? I've never heard that.

If so, I don't think I'd like Walt very much, even though his theme parks are awesome. I just don't care for judgmental people.

I just don't trust anyone who doesn't drink ... at least a little.:laundy:
