Ed and Donna are alive, but exhausted.
Just got off a really quick phone call with Donna - I didn't want to take up too much of her time tonight, for obvious reasons, but we wanted to let them know we're thinking of them.
They are simply plum tuckered out. (Poor Eddie can't even think of moving, let alone do so, she says!) Donna said they spent the majority of the day replacing the 70% or so of the shingles that they lost. It was down to the bare wood (and leaking into their bedroom) over most of the roof. (Our neighbor had 3 or 4 guys replacing his roof this summer and its not that much larger than Ed & Donnas and they took 3 or 4 days to do it! Donna & Ed did it all just today! And in terrible weather conditions, to boot! These are unbelievable people!!!)
Donna's been on a ladder, handing the shingles to Ed on the roof, while all the while there have still been bands from Frances whipping through the area. They're both really, really, really sore from the rain pelting them with such force. And more bad weather is expected (possibly some of the outer bands, now that Frances is making her way up into Georgia and South Carolina?)
Donna told me that only 3 counties in Florida were unaffected. Wow! Unbelievable. She also said if she hears one more report that Ivan is going to hit Florida well, the entire state needs a big morale boost right now. Basically, they need a miracle that Ivan won't hit Florida... so keep the prayers and pixie dust flying!
