Some menus posted say child price and then some say child 3-9 if I'm paying oop for something will I be paying the adult or the child price for a buffet for example if she is 10?? This never used to be difficult before!

Child prices are for ages 3-9. A ten year old is charged the adult price.

A 10 year old is considered an adult at Disney. This is for tickets, dining plans, etc.

At a buffet you'll always pay the adult price, but if you don't do the DDP and pay OOP, you can purchase meals for your DD off of the children's menu. Again, you can only pay the child price at a regular TS location, buffet and family style will charge you the adult price.

That is why we don't do the DDP, my DS15 is not an adventurous eater, so sometimes he will get the chicken fingers off the childs menu. He is getting better, he will eat broiled/baked chicken, white meat only, now, so that helps.

we specifically avoid buffet places for theis very reason, he will eat the pizza and chicken fingers, a pile of shredded cheese, cucumbers, and rolls. We hit Trails End cause it isn't as bad as some of the buffets.

This is something I will never get used to....a 10 year old being charged as an adult. I can even understand kids over 12 being charged that way. There are a lot of 12 year olds that are as big as an adult....but 10?:confused3

But it's to better coordinate all pricing.

Most, if not all, ten-year-olds are able/eligible to ride all attractions at Walt Disney World, including the ones with height restrictions. Therefore, for many years, Disney has considered nine to be the cut-off age for park passes.

Until much more recently, when it came to dining, a child was anyone who was at least three but had not yet turned twelve.

Most likely
in response to complaints/comments over this disparaity, Disney settled on a single cut-off point for everything.

Just let her order off the kids menu, that is what I am going to do my son is 10 and I will not pay adult prices for a 10 year old.:confused3
