On a whim i decided to make plans to go to NYE to uso/ioa as a surpise gift to my dh. I was going to book the HRH. Ok Nicole comes on and quotes me rates, i asked for AAA non avial. That's cool because last time they came out two weeks before our trip that time of year. So i asked for my plat upgrade she says they are blacked out. Now i tell her no that's not what is on lowes site. She says well that's what i have. So i say lets ask your supervisor and see if we can clear this up. Then she proceeds to tell me that she's not going to FIGHT with me. WHAT? I tell her i'm not argueing with her that what i see and what she has is not the same maybe a supervisor could clear this up. Again she tells me i need to call lowes. I inform her i want her supervisor. She tells me again to take it up with lowes. I asked again 4th time for a supervisor she says they leave at 5 it's just CSR's on duty. I told her that's fine who should i ask for when i call for her supervisor she agian tells me THREE more times to take it up with lowes! I asked for her supervisors name and inform her she is the RUDEST CSR i have every encounters at BE a STAR and end the call. Now guys is there something i'm missing? Do you see 12/30-1/1 as black out dates for the HRH advertised this is directly from lowes-first.com Anyways i'm so po'd right now at how she handled my call. Thanks for letting me vent. What's up lowes? She even told me i had a four night minimum! Minimums, blackouts making us pay rack for a few perks gessh it's not worth the trouble anymore is it to you?

Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando 5/28-5/31
7/2-7/5
9/3-9/5, 9/12-9/19
10/2-10/3, 10/9-10/10, 10/16-10/17, 10/23-10/24, 10/30-10/31

BE A STAR is Universal Vacations. They are not connected with Loews. Maybe you should call Loews and speak to a supervisor there.

I called 'be a star' last week and they told me my dates were plat upgrade black outs. When I got off the phone I looked it up and they were off by a day. I also was asking about seasons and they gave me some line that its busy from now until Christmas. I told her that the Dec dates I was checking on was listed as value season and holiday season started the 23rd. She gave me a line of bull about Macy's and the Grinch, blah, busy, blah. I knew then that I needed a different operator and quit asking questions.

If you want the upgrades and perks..you really need to call loews directly.

You can't be upset with universals agents.

I was making a ressie why would i call lowes? I was looking at the information on blackouts right on the screen while i was talking to her. I did'nt care for how she handled our conversation. She was very rude then i told her at the end of the conversation i thought she was very rude and i would call her supervisor today. Regardless of right/wrong there is no way she should have been so rude. I immediatley asked to speak to someone else to clear up the situation. I think someone has bad information. But i also think if lowes is not advertising my dates as blackouts it should not matter what she sees. I don't have access to her information only advertised info from lowes and if they don't advertise my dates are blacked out then i should rec'v my upgrades. That's my take atleast.

I am also going in December and no where does it say black out days in December. I called yesterday 1-800-BEASTAR and I gave them a piece of my mind about this. They did give me an upgrade on me existing reservation because I am checking in 12/21 and their "supposedly" black-out days start 12/23. Well I checked my credit card account online today and it seems that they charged me again at a deluxe room rate even though I paid for my first night back in August.

I called 1800BEASTAR today and told them why are they charging me another night when I already paid for it back in August. They told me to called their ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT. I called and all I got was an answering machine.

Do I need to go through all this trouble just to get an upgrade?

Because you are making a reservation at a Loews Hotel. They are the ones who "supposedly" provide information for places like Universal Vacations (BeAStar). If you call Loews directly, someone should be able to clear things out. Straight from the horses mouth so to speak!

I agree with the OP. The call was mishandled and the CSR was rude. It has happened to me before and I just end the call and try a little later. Sometimes all it takes is someone who is in a good mood or who will try and please the customer to the best of their ability.

I have found quite a bit of confusion and mixed messages when it comes to gold/platinum benefits. There is no consistancy. It is very frustrating and I think that platinum members should be given the benefit of the doubt..look at how the airlines treat their 100,000 mile members like demi-gods. (I am gold and I would love to be treated in a special way..but have given up on that) I guess my take on the upgrades, etc. is not to hope for one. Sometimes they happen, but there is no rhyme or reason!

Never ever call 1-800-Be-A-Star. I learned that the hard way. When making a reservation always call Lowes directly. You always get better service and the correct information when speaking with the hotel directly. Also, remember - everything is negotiable when dealing with the hotel directly. If the reservations clerk is not helpful ask to speak to a manager or a supervisor. Here is a perfect example - my husband and I live in Miami Beach, Florida so we go the Universal/Islands of Adventure all the time and always stay at the Hard Rock or at the Portofino. We received a flyer in the mail - I am not sure if it was for Florida residents or for Lowes members - the deal was $135.00 a night - pay for 3 nights and get the fourth free. We wanted to stay five nights but still get the one night free - the clerk at reservations said she was not able to do that since the deal was to pay for 3 nights and get one free - I spoke to her supervisor and done - not a problem. Good luck.

Here are the direct telephone numbers to the Portofino, the Hard Rock and the Royal Pacific. Just ask for reservations. Unfortunately they do not have a 1-800 number but believe me you will get much more by dealing with the hotel directly. My experiences with 1-800-Be-A-Star have never been good ones.

Portofino Bay Hotel
Phone: 407-503-1000
Fax: 407-503-1010

Hard Rock Hotel
Phone: 407-503-ROCK (7625)
Fax: 407-503-ROLL (7655)

Royal Pacific Resort
Phone: 407-503-3000
Fax: 407-503-3010

I think you would also get the same good service by calling the Loews 800 number. As I stated before the BeAStar number is NOT affiliated with Loews in any way. Dealing directly with the service provider is your best bet.
