Better do this now while I've got time!
The players:
Me, 21 (twice, plus one for luck
if you can't work it out stick with 21 and make me happy
), overweight and middleaged on the outside, dresses in princess gowns and sparkly accessories on the inside
DH - 41 (but still not used to 40), responsible for getting me hooked on Disney so has to suffer the consequences despite not "getting" it in the same way
DS(14) - "Treat me like an adult" - well, we have to pay adult prices, but he's not getting any beer! Likes rides, cowboys and guns, embarassed by his parents (especially me
)
DS(8) - Loves Disney, still thinks his mum is beautiful
and wants me to wear a princess dress to match my tiara
G'ma - my mum, 68 but mind hasn't quite caught up with that yet
Back story
If you're about to go out, ahve a saucepan on the hob, are ready for bed...... just skip this bit and wait for day one!
Like most of my generation (in the olden days before videos were invented) our Disney experience was:
Trips to the cineam in the school holidays (One cinema - no multiplexes!)
Disney films (occasionally) at Christmas
"Disneytime" clip shows from Disneyland/WDW at Easter and other bank holidays
Dreaming about going to Disneyland if our premium bonds came up
When DH and I got married, as I had all the fun of the frock he chose the honeymoon. We went to California, had 2 days in Disneyland and I was hooked! It really was the "happiest place on earth", even for a cynical Brit! Immediately decided we would return on our 15th anniversary, which coincided with the 50th birthday
In 2003 G'ma treated us and my DSis and family (4 kids who come between my two in ages
)to a trip to DLP. Both DS promptly hooked by Disney magic (slightly jeopardised by DS14(then 9) going on Indiana Jones Backwards
)
2005 - made our trip to WDW - DH says he's "done" Disney now. I say nothing but plot in secret.........
So here we are, now only 2 1/2 days before we set of for DLP. I am determined to do girly things this time, so although I haven't managed to get a Princess meal (they're only doing lunches
) I have bought a tiara to wear. DH thinks I'm mad, DS14 doesn't believe I'll wear it, DS8 thinks I look beautiful and insisted I wear it to pick him up from school. Anyone ever sat in a playground surrounded by children and their mums wearing a glittery tiara when they hadn't even had a
?
The weather forecast is less then perfect, but we're going to DLP and staying in the Disneyland Hotel
I've got Walt's booked for Monday dinner, Buffalo Bill for Tuesday and my Shareholders club card in my wallet. New camer, new batteries, charger, comfy trainers.
I'm good to go!
