Will the new marvel super heroes science exhibition (seperate ticket exhibition) that opens next month be free or discounted for people who have the regular (not gold) family membership?

Thank you

Fianlly, an area in which I have expertise - I am constantly amazed at all the info dedicated posters have here. My boys were at the Science Centre for day camp, so we have info about this exhibit.

The Marvel Heroes exhibit will cost you extra - must pay for Science Centre Admission, and then purchase admission to the exhibit (presumably for a specific time period, as for the last blockbuster exhibit, BodyWorlds). We are Gold Members, and we did receive a coupon for 1 free Marvel admission, and I suspect that ALL members received this coupon, not just Gold members. The coupon came with the most recent newsletter, so you should check that you'll get a coupon if you are thinking of joining just for this reason. I'm having trouble with the Science Centre website and haven't been able to check how much the tickets are...maybe $8?

If you live in Toronto and plan to visit the Science Centre a few times in the year, the membership really pays off. We live 10 minutes drive away and we go all the time - that's why we got the gold membership, which includes free parking and unlimited parking. One of our sons is physically disabled, and the Science Centre is a great place for him to walk indoors with his waler in bad weather.

My 7 year old twins are looking forward to learning more about their favourite superheroes' powers!

P.S. The Science Centre summer camps are terrific!

WOW! I'm so happy that I clicked on this thread. I didn't even know that the Marvel Super Heroes Science Exhibition was coming to the Ontario Science Center!!

My DH is a HUGE Spiderman fan, so we will absolutely go to see this! I dragged him to Body Worlds, so I guess it's payback that he drags me to this (lol).

Thanks so much for posting this!! :goodvibes

We downgraded our Membership last year to the Normal level from Gold. We did receive (with a Normal Level Family Membership) a free Adult Admission coupon for the Human Body Exhibit (Fall'05) & 1/2 price tix for the rest of our family on the Family Membership. Now, I don't remember if the Free Adult coupon was a B1G1 or not. That was last year, that exhibit. Who knows if they found that arrangement profitable enough for that exhibit or not.

I've found the Membership Dept. pretty responsive to my questions when I've e-mailed or phoned them in the past -- try calling/emailing them.

Thanks so much for the info.

We are going to go ahead and buy the regular family membership.
The cost is not much more then a day pass for the 4 of us. Plus with the family membership you get 50% off movies and the superhero exhibit. Plus free parking.

Does anyone know WHEN in October the marvel superhero exhibit begins?
(hopefully prior to thanksgiving weekend, that would be a great time to visit)

We are hoping to not buy the membership until a day or two before we go to the OSC (hopefully we can activate it immediately on line?), therefore leaving us a full year to use the membership as often as we can.

According to the OSC web site, it looks like the superhero exhibit starts Oct. 18 and runs until sometime in March.

I am going to hold off buying the memebrship until January/2007 since one of the benefits is that you get free entry to numerous science centres in Florida for FREE!!!
Next December we are hoping to spend 3 weeks in the Fort Lauderdale area. Within about an hours drive there are three science centres that we could visit for FREE!!!!! How awesome is that.

Has anyone who has a science centre membership ever used it to go to the other science centres that are listed inthe membership area on the web site?
If so, did it go ok (did you really get in for free without any problems)?

If so, this would be great.

We are also going to get a zoo membership in April and could use it next December at the Miami zoo (50 % discount).

We've had varying success. ALWAYS phone/e-mail the Centre you wish to go to first to find out any restrictions -- their # people allowed on a Family admission, photo ID also necessary, parking charge, extra exhibit, movie (usually these IMAX type movies are not included) charges, times/dates, etc. Overall though it has worked very well for us over the years. Have used in Montreal (iSci) & Chicago (Field Museum, Museum Sci & Technology, Children's Museum :thumbsup2 -- fantastic). I think we also used it on our Maritime Trip. Even with our strong Cdn $ there still is an exchange to be paid so does work out to be a good deal for Family Admissions to these places. No time to go to Orlando one -- too much else to do after Disney made it so easy to tack on an extra day to your admission for ~$2 each! We've also been planning to make it to Sudbury North for a couple summers now. They do have a big Dynamic North exhibit that is not included with your OSci Membership. Still worth it to us for a camping trip. One thing or another has gotten in the way so far though!

Also I believe the basic Ontario Science Centre Membership is not FREE Parking, but rather 1/2 price Parking, 1/2 price movies.

We received mail around Xmas time for gifting Memberships at a discount. You may want to look into this, perhaps even on this Board for the ones who still are Members as your plans for buying are for Jan07.

We have been varying our Memberships over the years among Ontario Science Centre/Toronto Zoo/ROM/Art Gallery/Nat'l Park Pass as we get awfully Scienced-out after awhile.

Have fun! :sunny:

Thanks so much for the info.
We are planning on going to the Science Centre in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Beach next December. Once we have our membership in January 2007, I will email them to confirm the details. Then I will print out the details and take them with us.

It must be so great to have so many memberships to place in the GTA. We live about 1.5 hours away from Toronto so are limited as to how many weekends per year we get to GTA.

Can you tell me anymore about the gifting memebrships that are available for members? Are they less then the $99 family membership price? I can't imagine the price going much lower then this. Especially with all the benefits of membership.

Sorry, can't remember. Seemed to me at the time that it was a discount though your $99 sticks in my mind now.

We also don't live in Toronto, but as you've pointed out with 2 visits to these places in a year you've already paid for your Membership. So I work out when & where we're going, especially if we're traveling & see if its worth it. Now if I lived in Toronto we'd for sure be at these places A LOT like some of the previous posters. There's lots of invitations & workshops we don't get to do, but we still get good value. Hey, if I could buy an AP for my DD to WDW I can buy 1 to SciCentre a couple hours away! :rotfl2:
