Ontario Place closing for 5 years!

I was really sad to hear that. I know the park isn't what it once was, but I have a lot of special memories of Ontario Place ... both recent and from when I was a child. We have been seasons pass holders since my eldest was 2. We got through some summers with two energetic high needs boys by having regular "family days" at Ontario Place. We joked that DS1 should become a tour guide there because by age 5, he was giving people tis about what they should see and do as they consulted the maps.

We were still debating whether to buy passes this year. My boys are now 7 and 9 and they have lots of other things to keep them busy in the summers. DH and I were wanting to hold on to the tradition, but wondering whether the boys were starting to outgrow the place where we'd formed so many memories. That decision has been made for us. I'll be curious to see what comes of it in the future. I really hope it is made into a waterfront destination, where people want to visit, and that it doesn't get turned into condos or a casino. Maybe my boys will be able to take their kids there some day and recall the great times we had there when they were small.

Last year was the first summer we took the kids. We had tried about 2 or 3 years earlier but that was a disaster and never actually made it into the park.

Our DD12 was bored and complained. But the rest of us enjoyed it. We arrived as the park opened and left as it was closing. I'm so glad we went last year. I wanted to take our DS7 back one more time (just the two of us) the last week of summer, but never made it.

We too had seasons passes and it was great because we could go when it opened and leave whenever knowing we could go back again anytime.
We stopped with the pass last year because ds was finding it boring.
But we will miss it.
I feel for the employees who will lose their jobs as a result of it.
And given that they don't know yet what they are going to do I think it is a silly decision.
I do hope for anyone who bought passes early they will get their money back

Redevelopment opportunity?

Disneyland Toronto anyone ?!?!:goodvibes

With enough dredging, the property could be huge!

Anyone listening at Disney? Bueller? :rotfl:

That is so sad. We were there 20 + years ago with my then future in-laws. I remember it being lovely.

Agree on the poor folks losing jobs.
