onsite or off

I've always stayed onsite. Lately, I've been looking into renting a condo or house off site. We are planning a trip for 10/30 to 11/5. My mother will be with us and I thought that it would be more cost effective than renting two rooms even at a value resort. We will have a car. Does anyone have any advice? I haven't booked anything yet.

The time of year you're going, there should be significant discounts available at WDW resorts, so it's hard to believe that an off-sit condo would be much less than two rooms at a Disney value resort. The savings in travel time alone will be worth any difference in price, and with the two rooms on-site you'll end up with two bathrooms- not necessarily the case for a condo. I would really lean towards getting the two rooms on-site.

When we go in November we always go with a large crowd so we rent a house. Last November i got a house off of ebay, BEAUTIFUL. Five bedroom, 4 bath, inground pool everything you could want for $700 for the week that included pool heat, cleaning after we left and taxes. Did I mention it was a 5 minute ride from disney and very clean with no bugs? People that own these houses use a rental agency. But sometimes it is hard this time of year(nov.) to get them rented so the owners try also on ebay. I find it much more relaxing with a bigger place when with a lot of people.

Wow! That sounds great. Most of the offers I've gotten charge extra for pool heat. That's why I was looking more at a condo because there would be a community pool with pool heat included.

I usually go to Disney in the offseason. Cheapest that the Value usually go for are around $65 per night and with two rooms and tax that would equal around $145 per day. Personally, I would prefer to have more room than two small rooms. Also doesn't hurt to have the living room, kitchen, dining room and laundry facility in your home/condo. The $700 is a good deal especially as it includes pool heat. You may want to post your question on the board for hotels offsite as plenty will answer for best home/condo locations and sites that they obtained the best prices from. Its nice to stay on Disney property but sometimes the best vacation is when the family has a bit more room and some time to themselves.

Thanks for the reply. I've been on that board constantly lately. I'm so unfamiliar with the offsite properties. I don't know what I'd do without these boards! I just thought I'd get some feedback from the people on this board who are interested in the onsite properties. It gives me two different perspectives to help me make a decision.
