Onsite magic band question

Thinking of buying character bands online rather than use the plain MB we get at check-in.
Is there a way of canceling the MB that we won't be using or just decline them at arrival. (We're in Canada and they don't mail them here)

How do you add the online bought MB to your MDE?
And then can we reuse the character bands when we go next year?

I only have a room only reservation for now so maybe some of this will be more clear when I link our tickets.

You can use both interchangeably, no need to cancel anything. When you get them, add any bought MBs to your MDX account using the unique number imprinted on it.

This ^^ There is also an option to decline under the customize MB tab if you really don't want the complimentary bands.

I just don't want to waste the complimentary ones as we don't need them. Already have a few sets in the house!

Given how many problems the site has had, and adding the extra issues of being a Canadian/International Guest, I wouldn't decline them right now. I'd wait until check in, bring my old magic bands plus new online purchases, and have the desk CMs test your old bands out for you plus new & confirm they are linked. Better safe than sorry. No one wants to add more plastic to the world, but given all the glitches with the system, I'd rather be safe than sorry with your vacation. ps front desk CMs have limited abilities, some have extremely limited skills & very limited time. If you really want to use the newly purchased online bands, budget time to go to Guest Services at your first park entrance to double check they are active. In the meantime, accept the included bands at check-in as a fallback in case everything hits the fan. Just my experience

If they are that old then they MIGHT not work for the long range functions (basically auto claiming ride pictures). You would be better off using a new band for that reason.

The new ones are also the new style of magic bands vs the old style you have of the ones that are 3 years old.

The long range function in the old bands might not work (automatically grabbing your photos to your mde, interactive signs), so I'd personally get rid of the 3yr old bands and get the new free ones as well as any character ones you want to buy

I think you can go ahead and decline them. Just in MDE-> MagicBand, click decline. Or at least don’t customize them. And then have the CMs setup the MBs when you arrive.
