Onsite for New Years Eve?

This is a bit of forward planning, but we are thinking of going to to WDW for Christmas and New Year next year (2018/19). We'll definitely be staying offsite as there is 8 of us and we can't afford to stay onsite for the whole 2.5 weeks. But, do you think it'd be worth staying one night at a hotel for New Years Eve?

We will likely be at Epcot on NYE and welcome in the new year before heading back. Considering it because 1) it should be quicker getting back to a resort via Disney bus, than trying to get out of the parking lot and back to our villa? (correct me if i'm wrong...), 2) its something special for the new year and 3) Will still get into the park if the park reaches low capacity closure.

Was thinking potentially a Saratoga Springs Treehouse Villa, unless y'all can suggest a better 8 person room/suite thats a similar price? (Anyone know how much I should expect to pay for NYE as 2018/19 bookings aren't open yet.)

Any help and suggestions would be much appreciated.

Ultimate would be be an Epcot area resort, where you could walk back to your resort.
You could look into renting a 2BR villa at BCV or BWV 11 months out.

Would a villa be necessary for 1 night? (Just get a 2-3 regular rooms)?

December 31st should be bookable, but it will be at a holiday rate. The start date has to be by December 31, 2018, but checkout can be anytime by January 30, 2019.

I looked online, and Saratoga Springs is closed. Here's what I found, as of right now, that's bookable for a party of 8 (I'm presuming 4 adults, 4 children over 10)

AKL 2 Bedroom: $2871.00

Cornado Springs: Casitas - Executive Suite: $1597.50

Contemporary: Bay Lake View - 2BR Suite - Club Level $3902.63

GFL: Outer Bldg -2 Bedroom Suite-Club Level Access: $3583.13

You may also want to look at DVC rooms at the end of January 2018.

Honestly, other than getting out of the parking lot (which may be easier for the Disney bus), the Disney buses and guest cars travel on the same roads, so you'll encounter the same amount of traffic whether you are in a Disney bus or a car. Plus, if you stay until closing, chances are you will be waiting a bit for a bus. Honestly, if you are planning on being in EP, the only resorts I would consider for that evening would be Swan/Dolphin, BC/YC or BWI (or BCV and BWV). I would book two rooms or a 2-bedroom villa, whichever is cheapest. I just checked and two rooms at either Swan or Dolphin (we prefer the Swan - you'll get queen beds) for one night on Dec. 31, 2018 will run about $500 each, so $1000 total. That will be cheaper than 2 rooms at BC/YC or BWI. I just checked Mousesavers and rack rate for the SSR Treehouse villa on Dec. 31, 2018 is $1563 and the 2-bedrooms at BCV and BWV are more. I would seriously consider Swan/Dolphin for that night. Otherwise, honestly, I would probably just drive back to your off-site resort.
