I HAVE JUST BOOKED TO GO AWAY IN JULY AND WENT ONLINE TO BOOK THE SEATS TO FIND THEY ARE ALL SINGLE SEATS AT DIFFERENT ENDS OF THE PLANE.MY DAUGHTER IS 4!!!
Sorry about the caps lock. The guy said that it is best to wait till they release the other seats 24hrs before departure and check in online 24hrs before we go.I am really worried about this as don't want DD to be sat on her own.Is it true they don't release all the seats ?Anyone else experienced this?

thanks

Yes, it is true that not all seats are released for pre-booking. I'm not sure that they're even all released for online check-in - I always thought the balance of the allocation wasn't released until the day of the flight, but maybe that's changed with the advent of online check-in. One thing's for sure, no-one can pre-book the exit seats - they can only be allocated at the desk as they have to make sure you're physically capable of operating them in the event of an emergency.

Who are you flying with and at what time? I'd suggest taking the advice of the guy you spoke with and trying to check-in online 24 hours in advance. If you find that you still can't get seats together, I wouldn't panic. Get to the desk as early as possible - pre-booked seats aren't guaranteed, so the earlier you arrive, the better chance you'll have of getting something together.

Surely they wouldn't let a 4 year old sit on their own its not in the child's interest or safety

Airlines can't let a child that young sit on their own because they have to be old enough to put on oxygen masks and follow emergency instructions. Don't worry about it.:cutie:

under 16`s can not sit in exit row

Hi

If need be the cabin crew will move people around. I have seen this done a few times we have flown. Pre-booking your seats are gaurenteed. You might find when you check in you will be allocated someone elses seats and when they arrive at the airport they will find they are not in those seats. Dont panic. Try checking in online if not they will help you, especially the cabin crew. They will not allow a 4 year old to sit elsewhere on the plane regardless if they are sitting next to another adult.

Thanks Guys
I am reassured now.Like you said I will check in online 24 hrs before we go but also get to the airport extra early to be on the safe side. :hourglass

When we arrived at Xmas 2 hours to take off we could not have our prebooked seats that we had prebooked the day they were released months before. Normally checkin online but the system was down.
I presume a family with young children turned up and they gave them our seats, so we had to sit 2+2, 10 rows apart.
Try online 24 hours before, if no luck get to the airport for when the checkin desk opens. Also keep trying between now and going, people cancel and planes change, anything could reset the seats.
Good luck

I bet you were annoyed-I would hate anyone to have to give up there seats to accomodate me and my family and would feel guilty as these other people probably booked way before me and then I come along with a child and nick their seats!!As long as one of us is with her and the other not at the other end of the plane Im sure we will be fine.
thanks Way:banana: neg

My DW was but not me, very few things in life get me annoyed, people cant believe how layed back I am, life is too short, enjoy it, don't waste time with anger and arguments. I knew prebooking does not guarentee seats so I was fine about it.:)

Great attitude :thumbsup2

Peoples plans change keep checking.
We couldnt get seats together for our flights either but I checked every few days on their site and now I have them. :cool1:
Good hunting

We had a similar problem last year booking our seats with VH, due to problems with flights etc, i was unable to book seats online.

When i rang they only had 2 and 1 seats. They did say at the time they sit families with young children together, and they release more seats nearer the time

I have manage to book the return seats and got row36 ABC.Just need to wait for the online check in now but I am still going to check the seat map to see if people cancer etc.
Thanks for all your advice:cool1:

UPDATE!!:cool1: :rotfl:
I have just been on the virgin atlantis website and they must have released some more seats on the flight going out.Hve managed to book row 57HJK. I also changed my return seats as there were more of them released as well,so now moved off the wing to row 55 ABC.
I don't really care where I sit as long I am sat with DH and DD. :dance3:
