I am booked to fly PNS>MCO with Silver Airways (yeah, I know. They were the only direct option). I am the ONLY booked seat and I am less than a month out. It's a 36 passenger plane. What do you think is the possibility they will cancel my flight? They already moved my time for departure once.

My husband and I were the only 2 on a flight from Cleveland to Dallas once it was the best experience. What you have to remember is there is a likelyhood that that plane has to pick up passengers and go onto another airport. Give me your flight number and date of travel and I will see what its flight schedule is for that day.

flight 0064 (both departing and returning) Sep 9th and 14th. To my knowledge, I'm the only passenger on both legs.

Unless you have travel agency access or a paid commercial service that lets you see actual inventory (like Expert Flyer), that's probably not an accurate statement. You can't use seat maps to judge the number of tickets sold.

Lots of times, people don't bother getting seat assignments in advance. According to the dummy booking I'm making, it looks like Silver charges an additional $8 to pick a seat. Personally, I wouldn't pay that considering the size of the plane. Every seat is either a window or an aisle. Since I wouldn't get stuck in a middle seat, I wouldn't care and therefore wouldn't pay extra.

Silver Airways is a commuter airline that gets a decent amount of business travelers. Generally speaking, business travelers don't book travel in advance. Your trip is about a month away. I would imagine that your outbound flight (an 8:40am departure on a Monday) will start filling up about 2 weeks in advance.

(I used to work at a business hotel. It was quite normal for us to go from 70% occupancy to 100% occupancy in the two weeks prior to a week night. That's when business travelers would finalize their schedules and book reservations.)

Personally, I wouldn't worry. Even if it is a sparse flight, Shelly F - Ohio is correct. Airlines almost never cancel a flight because they need both the plane and the crew to be at your destination for the next leg.

Thank you SO much. I feel much better. I didn't even think about the fact that if people haven't chosen seats, their seating assignment will not show up until at least 24 hours prior when check-in starts.

This is my first time flying instead of driving and I am (admittedly) overly paranoid something bad will happen :rolleyes2

It is certain that you are not the only person in the flight. Just wait until the day before the flight, when free seats are assigned.

Not quite the same, but, my return flight on VA in March was in economy in the bubble. There were four people in that whole section. Not only did I have a whole row to myself, but, the cabin crew chap spoiled me rotten the entire flight, I wish I'd caught his name, he was fabulous. The best part was walking to the loos through Premium Economy and it was full, while I stretched out in comfort.

I've been on a 777 with 7 other passengers, it was quite nice. Remember that the airline needs the aircraft repositioned - a 36 passenger is a bit different, but AA definitely needed their 777 in JFK for the next onward flight.

One time in the early 90's traveling from BOS to CLE on Continental. I overheard the gate agent say to a member of the flight crew that there were more people in first class then in coach. Sure enough 12 people in FC and 8 in coach. Instead of using the drink cart they took our orders for drinks individually and brought them to us. It was a morning flight and they had danish which the brought out on a tray. The FA offered and I said "sure I'll have one." To which she responded with a laugh, "take as many as you like, we have 12 dozen."
