I noticed the day we fly out, our flight is the ONLY one that day to MCO flying Southwest...is that not a good idea? I'm just worried if something happened or if its overbooked we may not leave till the next day? It's a small airport. This just happened yesterday to my friend. Although it was Spirit airlines...they kept delaying their morning flight and by 1:30 said they couldn't get them out (on Delta) till the next morning!!! I would cry...and they did;( and missed a while days vacation in Disney...my worst fear!

How the heck did your friend get Spirit to move him to Delta.... Spirit generally won't do that, pretty amazing!

But overall SW tends to have a very good reputation and I wouldn't panic!

I wouldn't worry about things you can't control. What if, what if .............will get you no where.

If the one flight a day an airline has to a specific location is cancelled, it could be more than one day before you are able to fly. Keep in mind that passengers on the next day's flight aren't going to be bumped to accommodate all the passengers from the cancelled flight. This is one of the hazards of flying an airline like Southwest, which does not interline with other airlines.

I also would like to know how your friends got Spirit to issue them Delta tickets.

I have no idea...but she said it was a total nightmare. Their 9:00 flight got delayed to 10, then 11, then 12. Then she said apparently they were part of the "loser" group cause the plane used to replace the original one wasn't big enough for everyone, so some people weren't able to get out that day so she just posted that try put them up in a hotel and on a Delta flight the next morning. I imagine Spirit didn't have 4 seats for their family sooner? I would have been Furious not getting out that day! So I guess I don't really have a plan B?:confused3

The plane will be inbound from somewhere, even the night before watch that flight on flight tracker for a breakdown or delay. But, I would try not to fret it. If it happens pray SW already has a back up. Just thinking out loud; but just in case a secondary airport nearby with a flight and they pay to rent a car to get there. I remember in the day Delta would bring in buses for people to get to another airport if need be.

Personally, I would drive to a larger airport with more flights and not book the only or the last flight of the day. I couldn't stand the worry.
We just returned from our big, non-Disney vacation to the Canadian Rockies and our flights, in both directions, were delayed. Outbound because of a weather condition in our connection city and inbound because the aircraft was delayed in arriving at our departure point because of weather at its origin. That was the last flight of the day connecting to the last flight of the day so kind of like the only flight at that point. We made our connection by reserving an electric cart to transfer terminals in O'Hare but by the skin of our teeth. Our luggage did not make it home with us. If that had been our outbound flight it would have been a disaster as we were boarding a train at 6:30 AM.
