We leave Sunday morning to drive to DL. Last night DD10 was complaining of a sore throat and achey muscles. This morning she has a fever of 102 and is now at the Doctor. I told DW that if the Doctor has any inclination that this is Swine Flue to get Tamiflu prescriptions for all of us.

We purchased our Hotel (Crowne Plaza) on Priceline so if we can't go we're out $250.

I am sorry. I hope that she feels better and that is not the swine flu.

She should rest as much as she can these couple of days before the trip.

Travel safe. Have fun!

I am sorry, that stinks! My girls just went through the flu a couple of weeks ago. The doctor did give us all Tamiflu prescriptions which worked great. Both of my girls were better after 1 1/2 - 2 days, and DH and I did not get it.

Update: Rapid strep test was negative and DD10 doesn't have a cough so the doctor doesn't think it is H1N1. Plus, DD10 received the FluMist yesterday and that could be causing the symptoms.

I think we'll be OK!!! :)

Yay! Good to hear that your daughter will be okay. I'm sick with the flu right now and I know how much it sucks  I hope your family will have a fun and healthy trip :goodvibes

OP, sending hugs and positive wishes your way! My 3 kids and I have been down with swine flu all week. DH is the last one standing, and at this point if he gets sick, our DL trip in 9 days is in serious jeopardy. His sick leave and vacation are all banked together, and if he misses time next week for illness there won't be anything for vacation.

I hope your daughter is indeed just having a vaccine reaction and not the real thing. If it does turn out that she has the flu, I do want to mention, since I never see this info "out there", that Tamiflu isn't advised if someone has had a nasal flu vaccine (Flumist) in the previous 2 weeks. By the same token, someone finishing a course of Tamiflu needs to wait at least 48 hours after treatment to receive a Flumist dose. (This does NOT apply to injectible vaccines.) Flumist is a weakened form of live virus, and the addition of an antiviral med causes interference with the vaccine's ability to generate immunity.

Again, my thoughts are with you. Let us know how things are progressing!

I hate that this virus is making everyone's lives and travel plans miserable!! it is affecting nearly every one in some way, even if it's just worry about getting it! Our daughter is going in for a c-section on Wed. and the vaccine is not available till monday, so her dr. said she should wait till after the baby comes at her one month check up....I don't think she should wait!! she's probably more likely to get it at the hospital than anywhere else. We will all be getting ours asap, and well before our trip in Dec. although like Ariel224...if hubby gets the flu before he gets the vaccine and misses a week of work, our trip for dec./jan. will be in serious doubt.... we need to send up a big bubble of postive good vibes to cover all the Dis members and their families!! :goodvibes
